6 weeks out and 1st fill
I was so terrified! More so then the actual surgery. I felt like things were going well the way they are, but they convinced me that as you shrink, the band needs fluid in it. They put 3cc in today and I feel fine so far. Back on liquids for 2 days and then mushies for 5 days. Looking forward to even more loss now that I have a fill and can get back to the pool tonight!
Congrats! I expect to get my first fill in two weeks at my 3 months post op. I had restriction after surgery and have been losing 3-5 pds a week, I'm down over 40 pounds since surgery. The past week (weigh in on Sundays) I only lost .1 pounds. Not sure if I'm retaining water or what. Since surgery I have enjoyed not having cravings, don't miss food, don't have a huge appetite, don't think about food. I'm ready for a fill when I go in.. I do feel hungry a little sooner and think about food more the past week or two so maybe a fill will help squelch that.
Had my first fill yesterday. Sue and I have the same Dr. He started out putting in 3cc and I couldn't swallow water! It started to make me gag and then I started getting the hiccups really bad until he took out some of the fluid. The hiccups stopped and the pressure in my chest went away. I really didn't think I would have felt any problems putting in 3cc. Fill didn't hurt at all, only minor needle ***** Don't know how much he left in, forgot to ask.
I am 2.5 years out and have never been able to handle much more than a total of 4ccs in my 10cc band! For the first year I was never over 3ccs and could never get more than 0.2 to 0.4 of fluid at a time. I would not have been able to swallow my saliva had I'd ever been filled with 3cc at a time. I can't even handle 1cc. I'm going back next week to get re-filled after an unfill of 1cc and am asking to only have 0.5-0.7ccs put back!
A bandster friend of mine, - her surgeon does a 3cc fill at the time of surgery! I can't even imagine!
Good luck to those new to the fill process!
