I have always had constipation and still had it after the surgery, especially first 2 months.
Miralax was working for me before but not now.  So I researched a bit and started eating some high fiber bars, like Gnu or Quest.  But they are so big and filling I just kinda pick at them during the day.  I also put a tsp or tablespoon of benfiber in my morning protein shake.
I avoid stool softeners because it seems since surgery all the stool is soft anyway, and also stay away  from stimulants like x-lax and lean toward natural fibers.  I do still have occassional constipation but these things help.
Also, I tend to have gas often since the surgery and sometimes when I think it is constipation pain it really is gas pain.  I dont notice the gas because it seems trapped and not "coming out."  I started taking Gas-X chewables when I feel discomfort and it works almost immediately.

 Smooth Move Tea!

I get it in the tea section of my local supermarket, or in the organic isle.

i am just not going as frequently since going to food because of the littler amount of food. So it is not like normal. Once I did go, it was ok. I have been taking Benefiber chewables at nite (SF). Because of the gas, I do sometimes feel like I am constipated, but in the end the Fiber chews must be working. I also am drinking a K2O water that has fiber. Kelloggs makes them and they are in the grocery with all of the other diet bars and drinks.

I like tea at nite. Does it taste any good?

Biscadol !  Take 2 tabs worked right away for me, and what we give to patients for constipation.  That first followed by colace.  Hope this helps!
