Potty Question TMI!

I was just banded 2 weeks ago tomorrow.  I had my first post-op appt today and am down 15 lbs.  I forgot to ask my surgeon this question so I thought I'd throw it out for all you experienced people.

I'm still on the liquid diet (YAY for using a fork tomorrow!! MUSHIES)  When I have a bowel movement one day will be regular and then the next day will be diarrhea.  Has anyone else had this and is it normal.  I was expecting constipation but I feel like "dumping" syndrome sometimes.

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated!

It should improve once you get on solids. Right now it's liquids in, liquids out. Very normal for this stage. The more solid food you get the firmer things will be. Some of us have to use fiber tablets of take extra fiber to keep things moving once we get to eating more protein. This too shall pass!

Agree. I am week six on food, taking fiber tabs to make sure I don't have problems. I asked the same question to my nurse and she said once you start eating it will be normal to only go a couple times a week because your body is going through such a change. She was right on as that is what is happening.

Hope that helps!

Yup. Very normal. I had my band tightened and promptly got on the road to go home 12 hours on the road. When I told hubby I had to stop which was often he would say which one. I said doesn't matter right now what comes out is the same. Things are more normal but I do have to be careful if I don't get enough fiber in. That seems to create the complete opposite reaction! Love your tmi. That's how we help each other.
