Gurgling sound...
I'm just 2 weeks post op and have zero ccs in my band. Every time I swallow water or food I make a loud gurgling sound.
The gurgling sound concerns me A LOT cause I simply can't eat in public. The sound is hard to describe - it's like a burping/bubbling sound in my chest/throat and the feelilng is that the food and air switch places - sounds like you're pulling the plug from a bathtub and the water starts going down. I have no control over it and it happens every time when I swallow. Pretty embaresing…
Anyone else has that? Does it go away? How do you deal with it?
Your stomach is still swollen from the surgery, causing restriction. You are probably still on liquids at this point, so it would be hard to tell. At a fairly good restriction level this happens. The liquid funnels through the stoma opening. That's why a lot of bandsters can no longer chug water.
I am sure that once the swelling goes down, this will disapate. After you get a few fills in, this might return. However, we all have different anatomies, and some bandsters never experience t his.

I know the sound you speak of and I make the sound too. My friends say they can hear it but it sounds like a stomach sound...like grumbling. It happens to me sometimes just swallowing saliva...I'm not too tight I swear!!! The only thing people ever say to me is something about being hungry. I usually just agree with them. The people close to me know what it is and say its not loud or rude sounding. Really I don't get embarrassed I just say something like "I guess I'm hungry " and people will either ignore it or agree that they are hungry too. Ask a close friend what the gurgling sound, sounds like to them....it might not be that bad.
I have that problem too. At my first post op appointment I told them and they said you are drinking too fast and swallowing too much air. Take smaller sips. I still have the problem 6 weeks out. Although it is better because I am really trying to concentrate on smaller amounts of food and liquid at a time.
I go for my first fill this week and I am worried because I am having this problem still with no fill, I can only imagine that it will be worse when I get a fill!

I am three years out and I would think if I had a habit of drinking too fast or eating to fast I would have had problems with my band by now. I think some people will gurgle as long as they have the band and it has nothing to do with their habits.... Like I said sometimes I gurgle from swallowing saliva. The main thing is that it hasn't become an issue in my life at all. My tummy makes weird noises at times and sometimes people around me can hear it. I swear no one really gives it a second thought. Then again it takes a lot to embarrass me....hahhaha
I have that still sometimes if I drink too fast...especially when I am trying to chug my morning coffee as soon as I wake up. Kevin lays in bed next to me laughing at the glug glug glug sound.
Slow and steady is the way to go, especially post op. My doc told me it should take me 15 min to drink 1 oz in the beginning. I used a kitchen timer because lets face it...I ate too fast which is part of why I had a weight problem to begin with...the kitchen timer really helped me SLOW DOWN. Another thing that works is singing the alphabet in my head between bites when eating
