I had my band placed July 25,2011. I am down 52+ pounds and running my first 5k today!
I am excited and nervous...but confident I can finish with no problem since I am up to 4 miles on my treadmill. Next week signing up for another one in April!
I hope it was all right to have a protein shake at 7am and oatmeal at 8am, race is at 11am.

question: have you ran a 5k? Tell me about your experience and I will check in later today and let you know how I did!

Actually my first 5K was today too!!!  Yeah us!!!!  No pictures or pace but my time as I crossed the finshline was 28 minutes!!!!  My daughter did much better.   One guy did it in 15 minutes!!!!

Mine was at 9am and it was still kind of chilly here (33 degrees) and I find it kind of hard to run in the cold.  My chest hurts after a few minutes.  So I want the next one to be in warmer weather.  Now I'm a little sore because the ground outside is so much harder then the treadmill.  But not too sore.  I was sweating but I wore a base layer that wicked the sweat away and the t-shirt they gave me and some gloves and ear warmers.  Only thing I would do different is I would have gone for a pee break before the race even if I didn't hve to go...because I ended having to go (probably because of the cold) and every foot fall I felt like I was going to pee my pants!!!!

I had carbs before the race...about 45 minutes before.  I had yogurt covered rasins.  After the race I ate nuts and drank water.  Lots of water!!!!

Congrats to you!!!!!

I haven't signed up for another one yet.
