exercise and abs....

I am hoping someone out there can give me some more info on exercise / abs and our ports so that I dont have to run to the drs office just to ask a question. I am 4 1/2 months postop and have really increased my exercise in the last month. I am doing the couch 2 5 k program (and loving it!), and I rotate through circut training, kick boxing, and step type workouts. I am curious though about targeting abs since that is where most of us have our ports. I know that doing the other things will help with my core strength, but I would like to try to give my tummy a little more help. What types of things are you all allowed by your drs to do or have you done successfully without messing up your port? (I know that mine is sewn onto mesh and the mesh sewn into the muscles if that makes any difference.)

I think we can do anything except maybe get hit where the port is.

Planks! My trainer has me do all differnt moves with them. We do cruncches and sit ups too but planks almmost every session, and wow! They work your whole body too

I never discussed excersise moves with my doc. However, I have been doing abs since about 4 months post op and now, a bit over 2 years later I haven't had any problems.

Awesome. I was worried that doing crunches and things that target abs may pop my port off and I am NOT about to sign up for another surgery just to do abs. I already plank so it is nice to hear that it is so highly recommended. Thanks ladies!
