Has anyone had their Lap band longer than 5 years

Hi,

Had mine 4 years before I had my revision to sleeve. The first year through self starvation lost about 100lbs. Was allergic to mesquito bites and during my second year I was getting filled and unfilled due to reactions from the bug bites. Finally my 3rd year I stayed unfilled and of course gained a large amount of weight back.

It disturbs me that some blame the band problems on the person. The surgeon who did my band won't even do them anymore.

The sleeve is to me what I was told the band would be. The band might work for some and I wish them nothing but success.

It has been a year since my revision and am normal for the first time in 30 years. Looking back I really wish I would not have fallen for the "less invasive" and "reversible" line. Of course I was desperate and desperate people do desperate things.

Good Luck

Oh hun I fell for that "least invasive" crap too! Many of us did. :-(

The blame the bandster mentality bothers me as well. I hate it when the band cheerleaders start in with the blame the victim. It reminds me of those that blame a woman for being raped! :-( So sad!

Just a point of clarification: I did not HAVE TO have my band replaced. If you want the full story, I am happy to share it for the 800th time, but in no way did I HAVE TO have it replaced.

Banded 10 years & maintaining my weight loss!! Any questions, message me.

I stand corrected. I should have phrased that differently!
