Starting to panic. I am having panic attacks about not being able to eat food that I love. German choc. rolls and deep dish pizza to name a few. Any help on this topic is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Betty

hi there, how are you doing? i hope that your feeling somewhat better don't feel bad because everyone gets nervous when it comes to getting ready to cul tloose all those good things we love to eat, all you have to do is not focus on it, try to palce your attention on something else, think about how better you will fill in the long run, and how healty you will become:) i hope that this has helped you in some way, good luck on your new journey

I definitely understand! I was a sweet and bread freek. You just have to find foods that you like and focus on that. I love shrimp and fish so I eat it a lot more than I used to and am doing fine with changing what makes me happy! Good luck, you can slit!

I know what you mean Betty. I bake sweet potato cheese cakes for the holiday, I LOVE lobster, double fudge brownies! I miss them, but I'm willing to sacrifice .

Feeling nervous and panicky is completely normal.  You will be able to eat the things you like again, just in much smaller portions.

Of course, for a time, while you are healing from surgery and adjusting to your new life, you won't be able or allowed to eat rolls, deep dish pizza or chocolate.

Once you're back on regular food, you can try these items in small amounts and see how you do.  However,  if you want to lose a lot of weight, they shouldn't be on the menu very often.

I was recently away for a weekend visit with my sisters and one night we ate at a place that had little individual (8") pizzas and flatbreads.   I ordered the 8" flatbread, but had it made with whole wheat.  I ate one little square that was probably 2"x2".. and then about the rest of the remaining half  I ate by scrapping the toppings off with my fork.  The last half I took back to the hotel room and gave it to my son who had declined to come out with us.

I still have a little chocolate.. I just work it into my calorie allotment.

You're not getting divorced from your favorites.. it's just a trial separation and then developing a new relationship.  It will be OK.
