What purpose does lapband serve?

Thanks, Maria!  I'm still thankful I was able to get it because without it I would have never lost the weight I did.  Furthermore, after the intial gain from the high pred I have not gained more weight.  It does work for some people, but I wanted to be in the "Some" category LOL.  Oh well, at least I lost some and I've learned a lot about portion and protein.  I'm much more mindful about how slow I eat and what I put in my mouth.

I hope you're doing well!!!
I've been on prednisone and chemo for over 7.5 years.  Gained over 160 pounds due to pred. Highest wt. 410. Surgery wt. 365. Current wt. 299

I'm doing great! Hey if you're in better health now, you might want to come to the WLSFA Meet & Greet in Vegas in May. There's suppose to be about 700 WLS'ers there!

Holy weightloss!  That's a lot of people!  I would love to, but I actually have a vasculitis symposium that month.  I think I'll be tapped out for a while after that.  Vegas would be so much fun though!!!

I have the band. I have had my share of problems with it. But I still love it. IT HELPS ME. Its my safety net. I agree that read alot, alot and not just here. Watch some surgeries on you-tube. Make a+/- list for all the surgeries you are considering. Attend support groups. You need to exercise and make good healthy food choices no mater how you choose to loose weight.
Good luck! Karen
