Band Over Bypass
Congratulations on your BOB.....it is the most wonderful thing I have done for myself. It has taken some time to get used to and when I mess up and eat too fast or my band won't allow something to go through it is a memory that I don't forget and don't try twice. I am doing great, hit my goal in 5 1/2 months and would like to go further now. I just came from the doctors and he said I was doing better than most of his patients that are having 1st time surgery. There are several things that have really helped me. I plan out every meal before my day starts and I don't vary from it. I measure and weigh everything because the band won't tell you that you are done eating like the bypass did. I never eat over a cup of food at a time and right now my doctor has me eating 6 small meals so that I can get 1,000 calories in per day (I work out for an hour a day and need fuel). I haven't "tested" my band, if a food was on my list of not to eat I haven't. I drink over 100 oz. of water (plain water nothing added) a day. Please let me know if you have any other questions and you can send me a message directly. Best of luck to you, I hope you are feeling well and again, congratulations!!
I have a question about your surgery in Mexico. I am also looking at having the lap band over bypass surgery there just as you did. I know that the band can get adjusted if needed, by adding or removing saline from the port. What do you do in this situation? Do you go to a local doctor?
Thank you for your help.
