God is testing me! Frustrated!
To start, I believe in the band. I believe it is helpful especially when I am compliant.
I went in for a fill last Friday, 2/24. I had lost 5# since last apt. IT was EXTREMELY difficult. It took blood, sweat, tears, prayers and ranting like a maniac. I also joined a gym. I have been starving since 2/13/12. I found out what I suspected is true. I lost fluid. I was supposed to be at 2.4 cc and I had a whopping 1.0 ccs. Next step? I get to go in next week for a check to see how much fluid I've lost. That's how my doc works (and I knew it) he's not going to do anything until he has enough info. for formulate a plan.
Why am I upset and feel tested? This will be my 3rd freaking port!!!!! The first one was busted, the second one detached and flipped and now ???????? Then I had horrific gallbladder problems that led to a 3 hour surgery and then a stent placement. Plus, my insurance doesn't cover any WLS. I know they most likely won't pay for another port becasue even after I got a letter of an approval it took them 6 months to pay. Picture me whacking my head against the wall becasue that is what I feel like doing.
Thanks for listening to me. Yes, I am frustrated but I am still glad I got the band.

Lapband - Jan 2009 weight goal reached with lapband. Revised to VSG- 1/25/16
Hi all yes it is true you can feel frustrated with the band because of inadequate weight loss. I am 3 yrs. post op and my results are pathetic!! I keep on hearing all these up beat stories on how other bandsters are regaining their life and I am just trucking along. I will not let this defeat my spirit though at times I feel like crying all day because of my results. I will keep on pushing and I will never give up my life is worth too much and I just know one day me and Bandie will get it right!
I cringe when I read these stories. The band does not work for a lot of people. It really doesnt address the causes of obesity well. I had terrible results from my band. I never reached the 'sweet spot' and never lost more than 30 lbs which came back on plus some after I was only able to eat mushies. I ended up getting esophigeal damage and a hialal hernia resulting in the necessity to get the RNY My stomach was so damaged the surbeon had to remove my entire remnant stomach after my pouch was made. Many people think that the band failure is their fault but note that there are few commercials for the band and many weight loss surgery vacation countries have stopped offering it. I am sorry I wasted 5 years with that band.
