Am I the only one who doesn't take vitamins?

Just curious!  One of the reasons that I went for the band was because I knew that I would suck at taking pills every day.  My doctor doesnt care whether I take them or not.  I noticed from the "what are we eating" post that a lot of you do.  Any specific reason why?

I am going on 7 years post op and...Nope....I used to take them in my first 2 years because I was not eating much, but now I eat a balanced diet of green veggies, fruit, lean meats, etc and I get most of my nutrition from real food. I am very healthy and full of energy...

Vitamins are really not REQUIRED with the lap band...like other weight loss surgeries....some people who never had surgery may take vitamins for various reasons, the same applies with the lap band..it's not a requirement especially if you are eating a balance diet.

However...many dietitians may suggest newly post ops to take a multi vitamin and calcium especially in the first year since you will not be eating as much and will need to supplement.

I did in the beginning as well...once in awhile I might hop up on some vitamin C but that's it.

I confess to being completely hit or miss with vitamins.

With my tummy tuck coming next week, my plastic surgeon wants me on 2multis, 1000iu of calcium and 5,000iu of D per day.

I have been faithful to that and added magnesium to help the calcium work.

I hope that I can continue with that regimen after the tt .. Maybe cut the multi down to 1 per day.

I am another one who i**** or miss. A lot of multi's have an odd oder and I cannot tolerate taking them. It goes back to the meds I had to take for my asthma back in the 50's and 60's. My allergist dispensed them back then and would put them all in one bottle with instructions to my mother as to which color she should give me and when. On top of that I had to take them all with water so I came to hate water and as an adult couldn't take the most innoculous pill with water; that is until after surgery when I did a complete about face.

I recently found a multi that doesn't have that odor and I can tolerate but since it doesn't fit in my pill pack I still tend to be hit or miss.

I do always take them but I always did even before the band. Anyway I always have a truck load of meds to take so it's nothing to toss in a vitamin. Plus at my age I need the extra calcium, D and a couple of other old lady supplements. I figure at worst I'm making expensive pee but I just an over the counter vitamin.
