Acid reflux

 I don't have the band I had gastric bypass but my boyfriend has the band. He got another fill a few days ago (he is 2 years post op) and he says he has 11 cc's now. Well since the fill he has had constant acid reflux, he has tried Prevacid and Prilosec and nothing helps. He has to sleep in a chair and still can barely sleep. He throws up constantly. Has this ever happened to any of you? Can they take out just half a cc? 

Yep...this happens to a lot of lap banders if we get filled too tight. He is too tight and needs to go back to his surgeon for a small amount out.  If he does not, he will not be a very happy camper and people that do not go back to get saline removed, will eventually suffer band slippage and possible removal.

This can be easily fixed by getting a small amount out now, if he waits, he will eventually have to get his entire band emptied, there are no other safe alternatives but to get some saline out asap. 

 Thank you he wasn't sure if he should call dic Monday morning or not cause its 50 bucks every time but I'll tell him to call and get in!

 Sometmes filling the band is not an exact science, so we sometimes get over filled, if he just got the fill, he should only request a very small out, getting a teeny amount out may bring him to his sweet spot. Good luck

Yup! Sounds like he needs a slight "unfill" - I have just gone through the same thing. He may want to see if his doctor wants him to take Omeprazole - it can help with the acid reflux and to help heal the esophogus (sp) and swelling.

 I agree with Nana it sounds like he is tootight. He should speakto doc tomorrow.

I just got a fill on Tues. by Thurs. I knew I was in trouble. My Dr.s office says if you get a tweek within four days there is no extra charge. I only had .5 put in. I was so tight I felt like I would throw up if I laid down. She did my unfill with me standing up, back against the wall. She took out .25. What a difference it made. Have him call the dr.
