You are so right........the way the band is marketed, is more like what the sleeve does.  I am truly hoping for a revision, just trying to not get my hopes up!   I wish the band had worked better for you.  Kudos to you for not regaining!  I am not sure I would be so good!  Thanks for all of your support!

Hi Melly,

I hope you get approved for your revision. It's the best thing I could have done. Have been following your posts for years and always loved your positive attitude.

The sleeve is very different than the band and I know that no matter what you will do very well.

Good luck to you......

Thanks, so much!!  One of my very best friends had a revision to the sleeve last year after a slip and she is down to a size 2!!  I appreciate your kind words!

Melly, are you at all worried about the stomach pouch stretching after your revision to the sleeve procedure?  That was one thing that made me feel better about having the lap-band, that it can be adjusted.  Athough as we all know, sometimes that's easier said than done!

Thanks!

I am not too worried.  I know it can happen, but with the sleeve, (from what I understand), the stretchiest part of the stomach is cut out.  I am just more than willing to revise after fighting with my band the last 4 years.
Yes, the band can be adjusted.....but traveling 4 hours each way to see my surgeon doesn't make it a "handy" thing....I would rather have constant restriction from the get go.

Hugs, Mel...You know I'm in the same boat with my illness and all my meds.  But I often wonder if the sleeve will do the trick???  can't we just eat whatever we want on that much like the band?  I can't get another surgery, but if I could I was wondering if the sleeve would work?  I haven't done a ton of research on it, but wondering your thoughts???

My best friend had a slip and revised to the sleeve last May.  She says that she can eat anything she wants.....breads, rice, chicken, but only very small portions.  Now, she doesn't eat too much junk, watches herself....and went from a size 16 (the band got her there from a size 24) and now she is wearing size ZERO!!

For her, this just works so much better.  She has constant restriction.  No  more days of being super tight where you can only do liquids or sliders, or super loose days where you are hungry a lot and can eat more.  She has the same restriction day in and day out.

I don't know about you, but I have fixed MANY MEALS that I wasn't able to eat, all because my band tightened up during the day for some odd reason.  So, I might come home to a great smelling meal that has been cooking all day in the crock pot, but I am not going to be able to eat it.....and forget leftovers!!  Leftovers rarely work for me! So frustrating,  you know?

Ok, that makes sense to me.  Oh, Mel, I can eat at 1PM and then get nothing down by 1:06pm.  It'**** or miss.  I have a ton of sinus damage from vasculitis, so when I read that even caused you crazy restriction it made me go "hmmmm???".  The band and I are Fd, but I'm glad I have it.  I would love to be able to revise, but I doubt Medicare would allow it and my docs weren't on board with it back in 2009.

I would love just regular restriction without having to worry about throwing it up. I have it really loose now, so I don't have too many problems.  I just wi**** weren't so damn hard ya know?

AND YES, LEFTOVERS?  those are for everyone else (inculding the dog) but me.  Reheating NEVER works. I have found that getting it to room temp and then nuking for 30 seconds isn't too bad.  I'm REALLY SICK OF GROUND TURKEY MEALS.  LoL.  I found a couple chicken tigh recipes I like.  I hadn't been able to have any chicken for about a year.  It sucked.  But with the 1cc out of my band, like I said, things are a little better.  WHY can't they find something where ice cream won't go down?  LOL

Hugs, girly.  no matter what you are a success.  I always look up to you and your success and attitude!!!

Awe, you just got me all teary eyed now!!  Thank you!!

When I get very frustrated, I think about you and others that have TRUE obstacles and still keep trying, and then I quit feeling sorry for myself.

I realize MOST of us have serious unhealthy relationships with food, or we wouldn't be here, but to deal with serious health issues on top of that??  My hat is off to YOU missy!!  I am just too dumb to throw in the towel.  ha ha
