A small unfill, big relief

I had my appointment with Dr. Acosta yesterday.  He basically confirmed that my recent troubles were brought on by my cold.  The drainage causes so much filling of the pouch, etc.  I also told him how bad my periods are....with the water retention, I suffer a band that is way too tight, and on and on.  My band can tighten up for no reason.  Dr. Acosta assured me that he wasn't worried about slip, since I am having no signs of reflux.

After talking a bit, he decided to remove .25 CC's and also put in a request to my insurance company for a revision to the sleeve.  He is going to say the reasons for the revision are the constant fluctuation of restriction, making it very hard to have weightloss results.  Living 4 hours away from him, is just too difficult to keep tweaking.  So, we'll see.....I am really hoping I can get a revision.  If the answer is negative, I will keep trying and living with my band.  I am very thankful for what the band has helped me accomplish so far, I just know the sleeve would be a better option for me.  My doc has only been offering the sleeve for a little over a year now, and he was telling me that he has seen superior results.  He said that he does very few bands anymore.

As for now, it's up to me to eat better, now that I can, and keep going to the gym.  I am thankful that I am healthy enough to do both!

I can see how that would happen, Melly! I have had a cold for the past week, too, and my guts are killing me today. And I don't HAVE a band anymore... just the damage from it.

I'm glad you're feeling better today and I hope you can revise at some point.

Take care!

Thanks, so much!!  I am hoping for it also....but, if I can't get a revision, I will just do my best to carry on and make a commitment to keep doing the right things where my band is concerned.  I hope to never have permanent damage, but I know it could happen.  I wish you hadn't had to suffer it!!

You have a good attitude, you know that?

I'm a little cloudy today... I've had enormous pain from the haital hernia for weeks now... and it saps my good mood, for sure.  I had to fake-smile through the pain all last week and I'm tapped out as of today.

I think that you'll be able to revise at some point. I hope so! You're such a sweetheart, I want the best for you.

Melly, glad you got some relief. If I have trouble like you I would revise also. My doctor told me if my band ever stopped working we could do the sleeve, but for now it is working for me so I guess I just got lucky.

Thanks, Deb!  I wasn't having huge issues, but not being able to eat healthy 60% or more of the time had to end!  I am so glad your band is a good tool.....thru work wonders when working right.

Thanks, Cheyenne!  I honestly RARELY get sick, so I haven't dealt with that before.  However, I deal with an unreasonable band every month during my period and just whenever he feels like it.  ha ha ha  It seems that way, anyway.

I was able to eat some asparagus and a whole piece of fish last night, along with some mashed potatoes.  So, I know I am a lot more loose....just trying to maintain control.  I hope I can have a revision, but either way, I need to regain back control of my food demons.  Hope you are doing better, my friend!

You will get thru no matter what because you have a great attitude. I'm doing so much better since I had my band totally emptied because now I can eat the healthy foods that I used to before the band. I haven't lost any weight but haven't gained alot either, just bounce around 5-10 lbs but a few days of diligence and I'm back to where I started. I wish the band had never been inventewd and that all that was available was the sleeve since it works they way we were told the band would. At least that;s what I was told the way the surgeon described the band isn't the way it worked for me. But if I nevere lose another lb at least it stopped my gaining. Best to you and will send up prayers that your revision get's OK'd with no issues!
