Let's learn a new word: "Schadenfreude"

I don't really think that's what's going on here, honestly.
We have people who don't particularly like one another... and that's across the board... happens everywhere. If someone treats me like **** I'm not going to feel as bad for them as I would for someone who DOESN'T treat me like ****

For example, I have an uncle who is a big, jerky, asshole biker dude. He threatens to KILL me when we cross paths. He actually pulled a gun out and said the words, "You better watch yourself because I'm going to kill you" straight to my face.  He hates me because my grandma loved me more than she did him. Because he's awful. And if, say, his motorcycle tipped over and he scraped his leather-clad knee... I would DEFINITELY have some schadenfreude goin' on.  I'd be like, "You are a jerk and you totally deserved that."

It's only normal to feel less than sympathetic towards someone you really don't care for. It would be fake to pretend otherwise.  I can honestly say that I don't WISH ill will on anyone, but to say that I feel really bad for anyone who I don't really like all that much would be disingenuous.  But I realize it's not really the PC thing to say. You're supposed to pretend... and I don't do that anymore.
