My band did it decide to tighten, green zone or a slip?

Not sure if my band has just decided to tighten up, or I am back in the green zone or have a slip? I have had to go back to pureed meat so that it goes down easier. I can’t eat more than ½- ¾ cup of food. Then I am so full, almost feel stuck and if I drink after 30 minutes of eating I am gurgly for hours. Yesterday I ate some cream cheese pizza dip and I was all of a sudden so tight and major heart burn after 2 hours of eating. I decided to get sick so I could feel better and that took the pressure off. I am trying to see my surgeon next week as they are away this week. I have been this way for 5 days.

I'm glad you are getting this checked since it is not a normal thing. Now mine used to tighten without a fill but it came on more gradual. With this coming on so suddenly it "could" be a slip but I'm no doc so you do need to get it checked. I'd stick to soft easy to go down foods so you don't irritate it anymore than it already is. Be sure to let us know what the doc says and how you are doing! If it get's too bad don't hesitate to go to the ER!

Thanks Paul for your post. I can call my clinic as I have access to a nurse who can consult with me over the phone. I will keep you posted.

Thx,

So sorry that you are having issues and I am glad you are getting in to see your surgeon.........having to have pureed meat doesn't sound like a green zone thing to me, sounds more red zone (is this with all meats or just certain ones) when I was a little too tight I couldn't do ground beef well......

I will say that for the rules I have to follow 30 min. would be too soon, we are told to wait an hour or more (if I do earlier than that I gurgle and it pushes the food through and I am hungry sooner). but everyone is different.

My band also tightened up on it's own but that was when I was over 3 years out and was maybe a little tighter than I should have been......my surgeon said it was from the stomach having to push harder to get the food through and that with the stomach being a muscle just like any other that the more and harder you work it it builds it up..... so a slight unfill was all that I needed...... I had extreme pressure in the middle of my chest and below my left breast, when I went for a upper GI the barium wouldn't go through at all (although in my opinion that stuff is too thick).

Try not to worry because for me that just makes me tighter (or used to before the unfill) and keep in mind that if you can't ge****er down please don't wait.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Kiskis i had the same experience as Michele.
I was fine in green zone doing well. Then i plataued then all of a sudden i couldn't eat. I also had night coughs for two days called dr and he took out some. In total i had 2.75 out.
My upper gi showed nothing was able to get through including liquids. I was feeling better immediately. Part of me was avoiding getting some out because of worring about weight gain. I am healing and my dr said it has to heal for 10 weeks. I am in week 8 March 2nd will be fill day!!!!
Bottom line go asap to dr.

I've had the same thing happen to me a couple of times after going several months with the band perfectly adjusted. It just got waaay too tight and I started having reflux. I had to have a little fluid taken out each time and am now a tad loose but would rather have that than too tight. Good luck!

That is NOT the green zone. It's either too tight, or a slip. The band can tighten at any moment for no particular reason. Then can untighten the same way. Bands are extremely unpredictable! :-(

Thanks all for your support! I have been problem free so I worry when this happens. # of my friends have had slips. I had this feeling late last year. I am feeling better on liquids & pureed food. Good news the scale is moving again. My nurse isn't worried but I will see how things are in a couple of days.
