Ok, so after losing over 50 pounds thought I would go shopping. I went to 6 different stores and didn't find much at all. I had to try everything on since I have no clue what size to buy.
This should have been a fun experience and it was NOT.
I like simple clothes and there are just too many wild colors out there! Whatever happen to finding a dress with no frills and crazy designs?
The only thing that made me smile was the jeans I had on were so big and baggy it was funny.
What has been your shopping experience been?  I am just waiting to shop in the non plus size sections I guess. LOL

Awwww : ( That's a bummer. But I do know what you mean and it's why I rarely buy new clothes, nothing appeals to me. I haven't had my surgery just yet (I get it on Feb. 28) but I do look forward to the whole miserable shopping experience LOL

I also do alot of shopping at thrift stores tosave money cause i hope to be a smaller size soon.

Congrats on your 50lb loss!  I hated going into the stores because it always seemed like I was in between sizes.  When I was a 26/28, everything was available in smaller sizes...now that Im in an XL, everything I love is a 2x.  LOL   I used to be the queen of Lane Bryant....a clothing snob too.  At one point, when I was maybe an 18, I almost had a panic attack in a Lane Bryant because I had felt lost.  I can't imagine losing any fast than I had. I had to run out before I broke down and cried.

Now I love going to the thrift stores.   I have been through so many sizes that I couldnt imagine paying full price for items. And it helps with stress...I rummage through and find things with the tags still on them all the time.

Where are you shopping??  Because I always have to hold myself back from buying too much.  I don't like anything wild.  I do like colors but not wild colors.  I used to wear lots of black.  But now I wear blues, purple, pink and red...all kinds of colors...just not all together.  I also hate bold prints or stuff with sparkly stuff or rhinestones on it.  My daughter says I dress preppy or girly...hahaha!!!!

I would also suggest you buy at a thrift store while losing.  I had clothes I only fit in for a month before it was too big for me.  I love thrift store shopping.  I just bought a pair of GAP khaki pants for $3 and a navy and white stripe sweater from Coldwater Creek for $8.  If I bought that stuff retail it would have cost me over $100.

For nice simple sweaters you might try Lands End or Christopher and Banks...I always go to the clearance section and find nice stuff there.  The stuff is kind of pricey but it's very good quality and I believe when it comes to sweaters it's better to have good quality that will last you years rather than crap that will fall apart in a year.

Oh!  I wanted to say to check out Old Navy...they typically have black, navy blue, and khaki solid colored clothing.  They have a mixture of styles, are decent with pricing, AND the best part is that their sizing if off so half the time I can stuff into a medium or large.

I have the opposite problem, I may be 60 but I still love wild and crazy clothes and all I can find are "funeral clothes". Isn't it funny how different we can be!?

Thank you all !
I actually went to Fashion Bug,Jc Penny, Dress Barn and Cohoes.
I think I will check out Old Navy and Kohl's this week.
I always head to the discount rack so I don't over pay for things I won't wear long.
I feel like I am not quite out of the X sizes yet I think that is what is getting me down.
Ready for a fill on Tuesday!

My support group members went to the Thrift stores a lot as they dropped rapidly.  Also, we started a clothing exchange at our meetings because someone was always waiting for the next smaller sizes.  This group all had surgery last year or various kinds.  The weight loss ranges from 140 pounds to my little 40 pounds.  We have members nw in sizes 1x to size 8 and are still exchanging clothes.  Some members have found a person to do alterations if they had really expensive clothes.  After we go through a group of clothes and no one takes them,  I take them all to one of the thrist shops for a donation.  I found it hard to donate some of my clothes to an unknown, but it was fun seeing everyone so excited about finding a pair of pants or blouse that was just perfect for them.

I too found myself going back to look at the sizes that were too large now and even pulled some off the rack to try on. It was shocking to see the change.  One of our group members said she didn't think she was really aware of how large her body had become.

My sister gave me good advice, she told me to only buy solid colors, say goodbye to patterns as they are aging and dont look good on a plus size person. I was doubtful , but have since become convinced. I choose any color as long as it is a solid color. It seems to be more slimming and I am now in a size 12. Love shopping now too.
