A little nervous to post this....Chest Discomfort Anyone?

Thanks everyone for posting and sharing.  It does sound like that Vagus nerve really is the culprit and perhaps the discomfort varies from person to person where some actually need/want to get their band removed.

My first though is still going to stress.  I don't have much of an appetite tonight...i've had a few snack-type sliders today to see if that had the same affect but I certainly thing for the extended periods that this has happened over the course of 24 hours, that my band is clenched tight because of stress. I actually don't even want to drink either.  I'm so exhausted I just want to pass out.

I will re-evaluate tomorrow to see how things are going.  Rest is my first priority!

Nikki,

Over the 7 years I've had my band, ANY time I eat THICK bread or eat too much, it does not digest well and cause irritation and cause chest pains and throbbing, (the lap band is in the center of the chest) and many people get this confused with other issues. Heart related chest pains are different than band related chest pains.

Band related chest pains are consistent and worse after you eat, whenever this has happened to me, I usually chew a few papaya enzyme pills from GNC (MOST lap banders keep these pills at all time) it helps ease digestion and clear out the pouch. Stress will also tighten the band also, if you are experiencing this you probably need to go back to soft foods and liquids for a few days and let things rest.

If this does not get any better after a week, you should visit your surgeon to have them check your band under an Upper GI, persistant chest pains can also indicate mild band slippage or pouch dilation which can be treated if caught in time with a unfill and rest period.

Good luck

Could also be reflux or gallbladder, if you still have one. When my gallbladder went, I didn't have the classic right sided pain, it was mid chest, behind my sternum, and radiated through to my back. Cheese especially made me flair up.

Banded 03/22/06  276/261/184 (highest/surgery/lowest)

Sleeved 07/11/2013  228/165 (surgery/current) (111lbs lost)

No more GB, Dev.  That was removed 8 months after my band was placed.  I do suffer from reflux frequently which has been evaluated and being treated but this feeling is different.

So far so good today but only been on liquids.  I'm getting hungry so I need to think about how I'm handling food today!

Thanks for chiming in!

Are you feeling any better today, Nikki?

I hope so. And I hope you're able to eat some solid food today, too. Thinking about you,

Nicci
