Glad you went to the Doc. Hope you start to feel better. When my Dr. took out 3 CCs, i instantly felt better. Went back in 6 weeks...(2 lbs heavier ) but he put back in about 1.5 ccs to start and I go back in 6 more weeks to see how much more to put back in. I know I should have gone right away, but since I had an appt about 4 weeks away, I just waited. It really was awful. I know if it ever happens again, I'm going RIGHT away. The docs are right, it can cause some bad problems. Good luck!
Cathie,
I hadn't had a fill for 13 months when I started having reflux in December. No eating problems, no other symptoms, just reflux that meds didn't help. Since my surgeon is on a leave of absence, I'm relying on my gastro-enterologist to figure out what to do. I had an EGD this morning and will have an upper GI study done on Thursday. In the meantime, my gastro doc said to raise the head of my bed by 8" and don't eat 3 hours before bedtime.

I went through this acid reflux hell for months before I went to the doctor. It was unbearable that I didn't want to eat. All tests proved nothing wrong so we unfilled to let things rest for a month and then refilled a bit less than what was taken out at time of issue.
Now I simply have to take meds all the time or I will be suffereing. I was told some people still have this issue even after surgery and I am just one of them. If I take my meds I am good but not all of them work for me. The ONLY thing that has been working for the past 10 months is prevacid 24 hour OTC. The protonix RX quit working for me.
Also I do keep me my band on the loser side because of the reflux acting up.
Did you change reflux meds? Is he planning on doing an upper GI to make sure your esoophagus looks ok?
Hopefully the unfill and the rest will give you some time to get things feeling better. Hopefully you won't be one of us, like me, that lives with this all the time.
When you do have bouts of this, it's best to stay away from anything acidic to aggrivate it more.
Take Care,
Nikki

I try to cut back on anything spicy or acidic - tomatoes, acidic fruits, tea/coffee, I even go to straigh****er and milk when it's too bad. And go more bland with my foods for a day or so and definitely while it is acting up.
Mine subsided for a while shortly after surgery but then came back with a vengeance. I too will have this the rest of my life.
Funny how different meds work for different people. I tried them all to and the Prevacid was the only thing that has been working for me after the Protonix stopped. Sometimes if it's really bad one day and I can't get it to calm down, I will also take a few generic ranitidine pills.
