Hello,  My name is Courtney and I'm new.  I am currently in the required 3 month program and just started the beginning of my 3rd month.  I meet with my surgeon tomorrow.  I'm very excited, but nervous at the same time.  I have a question . . . which weight is submitted for insurance approval.  Is the the weight I started the three month program with or the surgeon weight?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!!!

I think it may all depend on your insurance my insurance requires me to do a six month diet in which i have to lose 30 puonds in order to get approved for surgery during these months, Today I go for my last months visit and on my visit prior to this one i was already 30 pounds down i am nervous but excited about my visit today. I honestly think its the weight you end with but you definitely need to discuss that with your insurance company and your doctor to get concrete info all cases are different. I wish you much success I am expecting to get my surgery date real soon as well.

Thank you!!  I wish you much success to you as well.  I believe I schedule my "tentative" surgery date tomorrow.

Most surgeons submit the weight you began at. If I had been forced to use the 3 month weight (though I wasn't required to do this, I did it on my own) I probably would not have been eligible for bariatric surgery. I only met the 35 bmi requirement by a little and had to have the comorbidities in order to make the minimum.

Good luck

I was also on the there month. I believe my doctor also submitted my highest a an adult and my lowest as an adult along with the brief from my PCP. I have BC/BS and it was actually approved. Over the phone when submitted. You just never know!

Four hours post-op, still in the hospital and even more excited about my new journey.
