I have not had any problems with my band.  I was banded in March of 2011.  Today at lunch time, I cracked and ate bread.  I have been in pain since.  How do I get it to pass through or come up.  I am spitting up a slime.  I have never had a problem like this.  I moved to Florida and I cannot find a bariatric center here that will take my insurance.  They all want $500 up front to see me one time.  Not one of them that I have contacted will even take me as a patient because they don't want to treat someone that was banded by another dr.  Rediculous!!!  If I could only get this to pass I would be great

If you can get some, try papaya or pineapple enzyme tablets. Most drugstores, GNC, Vitamin Shop, etc. should carry them, and Trader Joe's does, as well. They may help. Sip some hot tea - ginger if you have it. As unpleasant as it is, you may have to wait it out. More "stuck" episodes end within a day.

Try some Coke. Usually just a few sips. Yes I know we aren't suppose to have carbonation, but sometimes when stuck it will help. (Maybe it's the acid in it). Sometimes helps it go down.........but can work the other way as well, lol.  Works sometimes, sometimes it doesn't. Just like the band...........kind of a crap shoot!

I agree with "B", I drink the hottest liquid I can handle, or sip. It will either make it come up or loosen the band a little and let it slide through. You should take it easy 24 hours after, it will be irritated. But you really need to find a Dr. Keep looking, go onto the FL OH forum.

This will take a bit.  Sometimes flapping your arms like a chiken helps.   Water will make the bread dough expand.  If you must try the diet coke but tiny sips.  BUT  remember 24 hours of liquids, 24 hours of mushies then soft foods then move forward.  good luck!

Thanks everyone for all of your advice.  I went to the ER last night.  I was very dehydrated.  They called in a bariatric surgion.  The xrays did not show anything wrong, so they just took some fluid out of my band.  Instant relief.  Thank you all.

That happaned to me a few months ago. I now have an empty band and can eat anything and to be honest I don't want to experience that again and will leave it empty. My surgeon wants me to have a Barium esphoram exray. He will not put anuthing in until cause he said I may have a slipped band. I think after 3 months that I would have some kind of pain if my band slipped....
