Joined the "back on the bandwagon" bandwagon ;)
A week ago I started back with a real low carb diet. Not quite as strict as atkins but staying at or just under 40g carb per day (total, not "net" for those who count that.) Also, what's really important is the carbs I am getting are from what's in my dairy, nuts, or vegetables. No grains or wheat products for now.
I have been feeling really good and best of all, feeling the band doing it's job again now that I'm filling up on the right kinds of foods.
I wanted to report that I am back down at 180 which has been my maintenance weight for over a year but I had bounced up a few lbs after the holidays. I lost 5 lbs this past week eating 1600 calories a day so this is a really BIG thing for me since when I am eating more carbs I have to stick to 1200 or lower to really lose weight.
Not only am I back where I have maintained but I am feeling truly motivated and capable of losing a bit more. March 17th is my 2 year surgiversary and I've got an appointment to check in with my surgeon the day before that. I want to be at 169 on my scale so that I am hopefully no higher than 173 on his scale (with clothes) meaning that I will have officially lost 100lbs at 2 years out.
That means my goal is to lose 11 lbs in the next 8 weeks. I think it's totally doable but I'm going to need to keep accountable. So those of you on MyFitnessPal who added me, please keep nudging me if you can.
Why can't I remember how good it feels to feel this good all the time? Why does junk food and carbs tempt me to stray from the good eating habits that are SO easy to keep up once you're in them?

That last sentence...! Oh yes! I know exactly what you mean. I don't go low carb particularly, just not my thing. But my whole body feels so much better when I don't eat junk!
If I spend any length of time over- indulging, I wake up every day feeling slightly queasy, slight headache. I feel lethargic. Then I go back to a balanced, healthy diet and the first couple of days I feel WORSE. Then it clears and I feel GOOD.
Then I remember the bad old days when I ate badly all the time. And, guess what, I rarely felt totally well. Never felt energetic.
Not like the healthy eating me - when I bounce like Tigger!
