Anyone hating waiting to drink for a hour after eating? Soda anyone?

I have always waited the hour after before drinking.  If I am really thristy, I will put a piece of ice in my mouth and just suck on it.  I, however, do not follow the no soda rule.  I don't ever drink directly from a bottle or can, but I will pour one over ice and let it sit for a while.  I didn't start the sode until I was 3 years post op.

It's funny, I still will order a drink when I eat out (which is not often) and then I am left trying to drink it as fast as I can before my meal arrives.  I don't know why after 4 years I have not learned that I can just drink water!  I do love a cold Arnold Palmer!  Yum!

I used to order a drink and suck it down before I eat, but I figured why waste the money, cause the food would come and I wouldnt' fini**** Sometime I can't even eat soup if it has chunks of food in it. That kills me cause I love soup.

I will be the first to admitt that when it comes to drinking with meals I am teribble about following that rule.  Now I am not advocating not following rules but I will tell you that I have lost 150+ lbs regardless of my rule breaking.

As for the soda drinking...and every other rule for that matter I do follow.  The soda I don't drink because it was a terrible habit I had before surgery (I drank at least a gallon a day...I'm not exagerating).  Now that I have kicked that habit I don't ever want to go back.   So I never drink the stuff.

If I could drink, I would be a happy camper... I feel sometimes that I don't drink enough because I am always waiting for the hour, cause I will have a snack, nothing big, but maybe some almonds, crackers, veggies, but than I am waiting another hour. I also can't find anything I like drinking all day, water gets old and I need to be thirsty or hot drink it, so I am still looking for that drink other than pop to drink.. I am not a crystal light or tea fan, so it's kinda hard to stay hydrated.

The no drinking with meals was hard for me.  But truthfully I know in my pre band days I gulped drinks with my meals to be able to eat more.  My band is not tolerant of drinking with my meals...so what I do is not to even put a glass on the table when I eat.  If it's not there I can't even try to drink it.  I don't order a drink with my meals when I go out, but do aim to drink a glass of water prior to my food being served..then it's empty and I have the glass taken away.  I gave up soda years ago, so that's not an issue for me.

I don't do soda, so no loss there. My wait time is a 1/2 hour before and a 1/2 hour after, no drinking anything. I don't have a problem thinking about it...my family does. Someone is always asking me if I want  water or something with dinner! I really miss my glass of wine at dinner. But if I'm going out I'll order a glass before eating, drink some...and then sip it after dinner. It seems to work.
