WHY???? HAVEN'T LOST WEIGHT!!!!!

Surgery was done August 8, 2011.  I lost approx. 20 pounds on the pre-diet and week of surgery.  since then I have only lost maybe 5 pounds.  5 pounds in 5 months......I am upset.  Yes I have not been excersizing that much, but my intake of food is about only 40% of what I used to eat.....calorie counted first 3 months, always between 900 - 1200 calories.  I got tired as no weight came off so I am not counting anymore.  I really can't take in too much at each meal as my stomach will hurt, really hurt so I need to keep it to one cup or so.  I have had a few snacks during each week, but calorie wise maybe 300 each time I eat snacks so I may take in about 1500-1600 during that day.  I eat mostly fake egg with chili and cheeze for breakfast.  50% of the time that is my lunch or dinner also.  I go to a spanish restaurant and I eat scrambles eggs with chili and cheeze.  I don't know what else to do, I really don't each that much anymore.  10cc band with 6.0cc filled.  Any suggestions?  SpikyPL

You need to start tracking your food again, it's crazy how fast those calories can get away from you. Also, some of us are VERY carb sensitive, I can keep my calories between 900 and 1200 and not lose a pound if my carbs are over 60 (and that's while I am working out!). I could never eat 1600 calories per day and lose, I don't think I will even be able to do that on maintenance.

We have a great group of people over on myfittnesspal.com, you can look at our diary's and see what we are eating, how much we are exercising etc and ask for support and advice. I am tripmom02 over there too, so feel free to join and send me a request and I will hook you up with the rest of our group!

Its  very discourging when you stop losing with the band. It happaned to me and now I gained about 7-9 lbs. and my clothes are tight and I got rid of my larger sizes..thank God cause I never expected the scale to go up. In Oct. I had a fill and then got stuck and went to ER and surgeon removed all the fluid and now I have an empty band and keep gaining. He wants me to have a Barium Eshpougus xray , I had no insurance..now I do so in the short time I have gained. I'm seeing a nutrionist on monday and hopefully I will get back on track. I'm not used to carrying the extra pounds. I'm very carb sensitive and haven't been very active cause of spine issues...Good luck with your tracking and managing calories....

You don't have a weight loss ticker in your signature so I don't know how much you weigh or how severe your obesity is, but you may be eating too little, or too much (but again, I can't guess because I don't know how much you have to lose.)

For me, when I had the band, I had to eat between 1,600 and 1,850 a day or I'd starve my metabolism and my weight would go no where.  Granted, I was weighing in between 400 at my highest and 265 at my lowest, so I was a very big girl.

Like everyone else said, track your food, but experiment with your caloric intake.

What worked for my husband is kicking some of the white out of his life. He eats no white bread and no white rice.

Your diet sounds very nutritionally unbalanced. And if you are eating in a restaurant, is the food's calorie value given on the menu? Scrambled egg can be very high cal with butter etc..

If your calories are OK, I sm not sure what difference it makes, but I think you would feel better if you ate a more varied diet.

Are you too tight? You should be able to eat dense protein not just soft foods.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I think the chili and cheese probably have more calories (and carbs) than you realize. A varied diet is more nutrionally sound and may shake things up to spur on some weight loss. Good luck!

I didn't lose a pound for six months. I was ready to scream. 9cc in a 10cc band, too! Then I ordered Jean McMillan's book Bandwagon and got myself back on track. I've lost four pounds this month. Yippee.

You must log your food and eat a variety of things. Your body is probably totally pissed off at you for only feeding it scrambled eggs and chili! What about fruits and veggies and some whole wheat crackers or bread? Sounds as if you body has gone into shut down mode until you treat it better.

When I look at my daily log each night and total everything up, it sometimes amazes me. Then I turn over on the back and journal my feelings for that day. That, too has been helpful.

Good luck and start eating better!
