Dr. Curry?
Newcomers may not know this, but Dr. Curry used to have a wonderful sticky at the top of this page and we could ask him questions and he would give us his comments. These were particularly helpful because not only is he an experienced band surgeon but also his wife is banded and so is he.
Does anyone know if they are both still banded and successsful? Certainly last time he posted, all was well.
In view of all the negativity surrounding the band, I find it comforting when doctors get banded. In addition to Dr. Curry, I know of three others.
Kate
Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Kate, good post, I read a post recently on the main forum and someone had Dr Curry as their surgeon and mentioned that he was banded and still doing well and he still calls himself the band doctor. He banded his wife and her sister.
Dr. Curry himself used to get flamed by a few band bashers, although he helped so many, I think Europe and Australia have lower complications rates with the band because of behavior modification, and compliance factors, I don't think surgeons in the US are installing bands incorrectly at alarming rates, if you ask the average surgeon what causes band slippage and all will agree that some patients do not follow up as needed if they get into trouble of being too tight, they will drag in when it is much too late, when they have permanently damaged their band and it can't be saved.
I think after helping so many people and answering their questions and giving them tips on how to live with the band and how to prevent complications hence...being too tight, it was a never ending battle because most people will ignore warnings and use their bands as they please instead of following critical instructions and as a result you have so many issues with the band nowadays....sad.
He still calls himself the band doctor based on his website

Dr Curry was a regular poster here for many years, we conversed on this forum for many years, I am an old timer and have seen it all...lol, he has always done all surgeries except the DS, and I remember him and his band, he used to post pictures of his band, he used to give discount fills, help many lap banders that got their bands in Mexico and did not have any aftercare and many had complications because of no aftercare and he took them on as patients and then he got the lap band installed himself, I personally asked questions on who placed his band, he was very open and friendly, I miss him.
Dr Curry used to be a frequent post here for a long time and he called himself the lap band doctor, that is what it meant, he also used to help bandster and post on Lapbandtalkcom also....
And oh...yes he played in a band too, he used to share pictures...
