Follow up - Had my EGD

Had my EGD yesterday. I was unfilled on Dec. 10th as I was overfilled on the 8th and was swollen and not able to keep anything down. They wanted me to get an EGD since I have never had problems before.

Anyway, my band is GREAT (as I suspected), but they did find Antral Gastritis and Grade 1 Esophagitis with abnormal GEJ. They took a few biopsies. After the results come back I can get fills again!! Yippee...Dr. prescribed Pantoprazole to take. I was surprised they found anything as I haven't had any reflux, or heartburn. I'm guessing it is from being overfilled in Dec. and not keeping anything down, then in late Dec. I had food poisioning, or a virus and was puking for several days then....Anyone else have Gastritis or Esophagitis? Any symptoms??

Yep, I developed gastritis while banded. I still have it after band removal, too. I take Dexilant daily. It helps somewhat. But when I eat tomatoes, I get pain in my stomach and the referred left shoulder pain. Not always... but it likes to surprise me here and there.

By the time I had my band out, I also had a hiatal hernia and ulcers to go with the gastritis, unfortunately. My guts are a mess!

Good luck to you. Hope the Pantoprazole works well. If that doesn't help enough, ask your doc about Dexilant... it's miraculous how much it helps with the reflux and acid tummy.

I was diagnosed with Esophogitis and silent Reflux last summer.

My band is fine -- and with the help of Dexilant, my other symptoms have resolved themselves.

Thanks ladies.  I wasn't expecting them to find anything at all.  I haven't had any reflux or heartburn so I was surprised by them finding it.
