Any low carbers left out here?
I have always known that my body chemistry needs me to go low carb. I hate doing it because I love, love, love carbs and all of them still work so well for me even with the band.
Been going through some emotional stuff since late December and my eating has gotten out of control. I couldn't go more than a few hours without turning to chocolate, cookies, donuts, etc. Not eating them in excess but just eating them at all is not what my body wants. Of course, my weight shot right up by several pounds and I felt bad about myself and all that stuff that comes with it.
Yesterday I made a vow to go low carb for a week and see what happens. I lost 2 of the quickly gained lbs after just one day and I ate under 1600 calories yesterday for the first time in ages WITHOUT being hungry. I know this is what I need to do and when I'm doing it I feel great but it's so easy to fall off and so hard to get back on.
I wanted to connect with others...there used to be some die hard low carbers on here.
Any left?
I wouldn't say I'm die hard. Yesterday I had 39g of carbs but none of it was from processed sugar or starchy vegetables so that's good enough for me. If all my carbs come from vegetables and dairy and nuts, for now, I will be happy.
Say hello if you are doing low carb or want to be so we can encourage each other.

I am a former "die hard low carber". That's how I ate when I lost all my excess weight. Absolutely no bread, rice, pasta, starchy veggies, dairy (except for cheese. I have since gained back 30 pounds, 15-20 that I want to loose. I got a little too thin. I have found the ultra low carb diet just too hard to stick to. I felt deprived and then binged. Not sure why I was able to do it before (all though it wasn't easy) but can't do it now. I am now following pretty much a south beach eating plan. The right carbs and the right fats. Whole grains, fruit, starchy veggies, dairly is allowed but I just each cheese, no milk. I snack on berries, cheese and nuts. Lots of lean protien like fish and chicken. I watch my carbs and fats and eat them in what I consider moderation. My calories are around 1600. Mind you this is only the second day on this plan lol, but so far I feel great about it. Not having a lot of hunger or cravings. I may find I have to cut back on the nuts to reduce my calories, we'll see what the scale does over the next few days. I am working out again after having to take a break due to surgery. Maybe this time I will actually learn how to eat as a lifestyle change and won't have the regain issue.
We're in a similar boat. Though I never got "too thin" - I've just been maintaining my 95-ish lb loss for over a year. I could stand to lose 20 more lbs but more than that, just want to get my eating, hunger, cravings, ect. under control. It seems low carb really agrees with my body but I can't give up EVERYTHING, so yeah, I'm doing more of a south beach approach.

I am doing the hcg. I lost 6 1/2 lbs this last week. Whoo Hooo! I ate this delish soup today at lunch. It is 1 can of chicken broth 60 cal 1 sm can of chicken 70 cal 2 stalks of celery and some diced onion poultry seasoning and sage and pepper and some cut up cilantro. That was the best tasting thing I have made for around 150 calories. I have 14 more days of low cal (500) then I go to the low carb no starches or sugar. I am in with you ladies!! Let's bust some pounds! I have lost 84 lbs I can't believe it. It has been 3 1/2 years on this journey but I am finaly getting some results. I went and tried on a size 14 jeans Sat I nearly cried. So HAPPY!!!! This Sybil band that we have you never know what she is going to do lol!! lowcarbfriends.com has a lot of recipes. I have made the fake potatoe salad with the cauliflower and it is so good. Let me know how ya'll are doing and what you are eating. Cheers to the losing bench!! Love and Hugs Renea
I started the 1st day of induction today. I'm not feeling too weak. I usually do low carb once I've had a 5 lb weight gain that has to be quickly eliminated. I've been seeing the Atkin's commercials and I would really love to be one of those success stories. I would love to be at goal in 3 months and that is what I'm going to work at. We can do it!!!! I must say that this is the only eating lifestyle that gets me where I want to be the fasted.
I do low carbs but not extreme low carbs. On any given day I stay in the 35-45 gram range. I stay away from simple carbs. I do include complex carbs such as grains, veggies and fruits. I stay away from frozen meals and canned food. I make most of my meals and it's a lot easier than it seems. I made cheeseburger macaronni (like the Hamburger Helper version) it took me 30 minutes and it was homemade and 1/2 the calories and carbs....and it wasn't so full of the chemicals and presevatives. Yesterday I made a crockpot meal that was vey yummy and it took me 15 minutes...homemade doesn't take long and it's better for you. As you can see I'm not only a low carb person I'm also big on being natural and organic.
