I think it was nerves.  I was nervous, had my first fill on the 11th, just a few days ago.  Because of the pain I have in my hip, he did my fill standing up.  It made me more nervous, trying to stand still.  It went quickly, just a little pain, no real discomfort, but in mid-procedure I felt a rush feeling and then we were done.  He made me drink some water and that was it.

I can say I was letting my nervousness get to me.  The not knowing how I was going to feel after was getting to me.

Today I feel pretty good...full.

yes...that was my scheduled time.  When I left the office I was told to call on Tuesday of this coming week and schedule another fill in 4 weeks.  So it sounds like I'll do a fill a month for a while.  Seems like a lot but I'm sort of under the gun.  I have to loose weight quickly as I have hip replacement surgery now scheduled for April.  To have a successful replacement I need to loose weight...and rather quickly.  So far, I'm happy. What keeps me going is....I've been rewarding myself with new clothing.  Clothing I have not bought in years!  I pick up a new piece every so often, especially if I go down a few pounds in a week.  But I sort of have to anyway...everything I own is too big!

Hi my first fill was a little nerve wracking to say the least. i had mine done under floro. Due to scar tissue near my port from previous surgeries I was *****ed 7 times be for they got it into the port. It just did  not want to go in.Thank God Dr. T numbed me first.  No pain so I was lucky there. What I found hard to deal with was the sitting up with the needle sticking out of my belly. Freaked me out a little I must say. Since then no problems but he did say he would not do a fill on me unless it was under the floro. At least this way I know he can see whats going on.

As you lose weight, your stomach fat pads will shrink.  You may not have needed a fill initially because without saline your stomach was large enough inside to have some restriction with the Band.  My band without a fill was like I had no surgery whatsoever  (maybe I was a big gal with a skinny stomach inside ).  Mens' stomachs tend to be thicker a lot of times so initially they don't need much fill until they lose a bulk of weight. You still have a lot to lose and believe it or not you will get another fill and . . .  it really is not so bad.

Hang in there girl - you are coming down nicely.

Best,
Leila

My first fill was HELL
My port was tipped and the nurse had trouble finding where to insert the needle. She had a DR come in and do my fill. But I am happy to say I have had 2 more fills (last one on Tuesday this week) and all was fine!
As you lose weight it becomes more easy to do the fill!
I too love my band!

My first fill was horrible. I still weighed over 400 lbs during my first fill, so she wasn't able to find my port. She was jamming around in there in the needle, it was more pain than I expected it to be. I was in tears by the end of it because it hurt so bad. I had to eventually go in and have it done under fluro and she was able to find it without any problems. As I lost weight she was able to do my fills blind. I regretted my band also for the first time after my first fill attempt, but I got over that within a few hours. Good Luck with the fill! Hopefully you get some restriction with it.
