struggling...weigh****chers?

To say I am struggling is an understatement. I've had my band since October of 2010. The most I've lost since then is 42 points; I've slowly gained almost 20 over the past couple of months. I've also had a series of fills and unfills, but have never felt like I was at a sweet spot.

Has anyone had any luck on weigh****chers with their band? I'm thinking it's time for me to look toward something other than just my band for help.

Thanks in advance!

RNY with
I almost always flock back to Weigh****chers because it is such a balanced way to look at eating. The focus (if you are not familiar with WW's) is on being aware of what you are eating. The new pointsplus plan takes into consideration the fat, carbs, protein and fiber in foods instead of traditional calorie counting that doesnt really focus on what the calorie is made of. In simple terms calorie counting might give you a candy bar for less than a piece of fruit and as we all know the two are hardly equal.

To answer your question yes I have used WW's in combination with my band and it has been an excellent tool. I am currently completely unfilled and since I am very aquainted with WW's I am counting my points on my own and tracking on Livestrong.com as well. It might be overkill to do both but it keeps me balanced. I am nearly 3 years post op and never lose or maintain unless I am keeping track with one of these methods. I also tend to follow my band rules more when I keep a focused mind.

Best of luck!!

Possibly time to look toward a revision? If the band isn't doing what you got it to do then why not revise to a WLS that will work?

Since Sarah has me blocked and I can't ask her, just wondering why she has her band unfilled since she loves it so much and it works so well for her???

Weigh****chers is a smart diet plan to stick to.  Very balanced.  If you still struggle after a good amount of time and effort in weigh****chers, look into a revision.  Don't forget that you had this surgery to END your obesity.  Don't lose that drive!!

Best of luck!!!

I used WW last year to lose the weight I had gained over the holidays.  It worked great for me because I needed the accountability of the weekly weigh in.  For me, going to the meetings is key.  If I only tried to follow the diet at home I don't think it would have worked.

The diet is good and healthy, but a lot of the recommended food choices didnt' work for me so I had to revise often.

Going to the meeting is a great motivation and weighing in there kept my competitive nature engaged.  I lost the 10 lbs in 3 months.

Best~

I am one of those that did not have good luck with weight loss with the band.  I lost about 40 pounds the first year or so but have gained about 10 pounds back.  I have tried WW and not very helpful for me.  I am very busy and have a hard time tracking my food.  Last night, I decided to pull my WW book out once again and try focusing on eating 3 quality meals a day and drinking plenty of water.  I get dehydrated easily and need to drink more fluids.  I am not sure what is going on with my weight but I have been very frustrated when I look at the difference in my weight and others.

I decided this year I am getting unstuck and eliminate self defeating behaviors.

I am very motivated and work out at the gym in turbo kick, zumba, and zumba tone 3 -4 days a week.  I even alternate with a spinning class one day a week.  I have come to realize that WHAT I eat is the PROBLEM.  I reverted back to my old habits that got me here in the first place.

I started at 242 and lost 42 lbs and now I am 210 (4 years out).  I's stop beating up on myself and move forward.

I feel your pain!  I am one of those who only lost the first 42 pounds after being out 4 years.  I finally determined that it is WHAT I eat.  I am remotivated to getting unstuck!  I pulled out my WW book and decided to start over again, short of going on a fad diet.  We can do it by eliminate self defeating behavior  -- knowing we should eat quality meals 3 times a day but instead opt for crunchy easy sliding foods.  Sound familiar?

REMEMBER, WE CAN DO IT.  RETHINK AND RESTART!  Good Luck!!!

I just posted about this the other day too!  They are doing WW at work and I think it would be a great thing to do with the band.  I can't wait to start it!  Good luck with everything and maybe we can keep each other in check!!!
