I am the same way.  I can not eat any bread, including wraps.  I tried double toasting the bread and it's just not the same. It has a burnt taste to it.

Not great with bread either and you know what, I don't miss it!  I allow myself carbs other ways and as such, I feel OK.  I was a BIG bread person. In fact, before my RNY, I lived on bread, then after the RNY, I gave up bread and soda cold turket for 5 yrs.  Then, bread started to creeep back in. Right before I was banded in June, I had a bagle a day for the last 6 mos.  UGH.  Do I miss it, sometimes, mainly the smell. But, after the one attempt and thegaging ang foaming was enough to put me off bread for good!

Oh, P.S. have a lettuce sandwich. It is delicious. I even add the mustard and mayo!

I'm jjust kind of over the bread thing. I miss it, but no big deal. The only time I really miss it is when I'm around some really good fresh bread.

And that makes me wonder.........I am such a sugar junkie. If I had gotten RNY and dumped and had to avoid sugar like I do bread, would I not miss it anymore also. I known only about 30% of NY'ers dump. And some look at it as a curse, most though look at it as a blessing b/c it keeps them away from sugar. So given my recent ice cream binges, I wonder if RNY would have cured that sugar craving?

Bread has been one of my most missed items. Sometimes I just want a bun on my turkey burger! One bite and that horrible stuck feeling and I go for a pretty good amount of time saying " i am soo off bread." But then it starts sneaking back up on me. I think we just have to redirect our attentions. But I will probably dream of bread every so often.

Be happy.  Right now my band has only 3cc so I can eat bread.  Trust me, its overrated and doesn't taste as good as in the past.  That caloric flashback kills the joy.  Yes in time you can get to enjoying it again.  You could get back to enjoying eating all those other things that helped us to the place where we were.  Be careful what you want.  Just sayin.

Hi Lucky,

I have not been able to eat bread either, or wraps.   We decided to have homemade bread to go with our pork & sauerkraut dinner we had for New Years.   I thought, I have to try at least one bite.  It was not completely homemade, it was the Rhodes frozen bread loaves that you let rise and then bake.  Well guess what, I could eat that without a problem.  I had a couple of slices at about an inch thick.  They have 100% whole wheat and white bread.  It was fun making and if you are unable to eat it I am sure your family would love to eat it up for you if you can't!  It was also very inexpensive.  3 loafs for $3 something.  It is certainly worth a try.

I also like to go to Red Robin- they will wrap your burger in iceberg lettuce and you can pick it up and eat it like a regular hamburger.
