I guess I thought that getting the band was going to change how I felt about food. I have only had 1 fill I got my band 9/27/11. I need to find healthy things that I can eat. I could be more proactive in my choices. I'm just stressed and depressed and falling back to my old standbys food that makes me feel good.

there's a great book called Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery!  Get a copy.  It's a great little cookbook that tells you the recipes for lots of delicious dishes, snacks and such, but what I like is that it tells you how much to eat for each type of weight loss surgery.  You gotta change they type of food you eat and focus on proteins.  That I'm finding is the key.  Chicken, fish, turkey, beef, pork...eggs...and then add veggies and such.  I stay clear of pasta, rice, all bread and white potato, although I do indulge in a sweet potato once and while.  I do reward myself...I've had a few cookies, some of my famous shrimp dip and a few other treats, but I do so only when I've lost a few pounds and only once or twice a week...very small.  I admit I've nibbled on hawaiian pizza, but no crust.

It's all about balance.

I feel your pain! Sometimes I have such anxiety over food and choices it feels like it is worse with the band than without! But take one day one item at a time. This week I am removing all sugar from my diet, and not thinking about anything else but that. Then if by next week I feel I have the strength not to eat sugar I will remove another bad thing from my diet, then another etc.. Sometimes it take me two weeks to get that thing out but when it is gone you feel much better. One step at a time.
But I agree you MUST get the book I have it and read it twice a year just to remind myself.

I agree with everyone else.  You need to eat to lose weight and you need to eat the right things.  I had an issue with sweets over the holidays and I absolutely love iced lattes in the morning.  I started eating chobani greek yogurt when I got that sweet craving.  Its certainly not a chocolate bar but it helps.  Trust me, I used to live outside of Hershey and waking up to the smell of chocolate every morning was hard!  lol  Try to come up with high protein meal ideas.  Lately for lunch I have just been cracking open a can of tuna or chicken and adding different things to it.

Stay focused and dont dwell on what the scale says.
Good luck!

Hi people.  This is a hot topic with me.  While I am pleased so far, I feel so much better about myself and look so much better - I have lost 53 pounds in 15 months.  I would have thought i would have lost much more by now.

I have lamented before about this subject and I now take ownership of this weightloss and realize the band is ONLY A TOOL. I have earned every single pound, each pound lost came honestly and with a lot of hard work.  I now have set a goal of losing 20 lbs by Sept of '12.  I exercise, eat much smaller portions, drink as much as I can...I am doing the best I can do.

What worked for me is buying into this tool.  I thought it was going to do the work for me. Even with everything I read before.

It wasn't until I agreed to only have 1/2 cup portions of food - 1/2 cup portions - that's it! - did I start losing again.  It's hard to give up the old habits of being overly satiated.  I really hate throwing up and i still have to remember to take SMALL BITES.  It's so hard!

Being busy makes it easier and sometimes old feelings of worthlessness make eating the wrong foods the only thing that feels good.  I try to pat myself on the back.  It's a daily struggle.

We all went through SURGERY! We did something drastic!  We have to work with the Band to see results.

Good luck to all of us.  We are so worth every single pound of success.
