I had my surgery 12/06/06....  The first year was GREAT...no problems... i did find i could only get .02cc where some people get .05...it too going back and forth a few time in and out to figure that out.... but thing i started having problem with food or drink going down... so i went back to my Dr and kept having my ban unfilled...I was told it "just bad food day & everyone has them" Well i told them it was happening too much they kept telling me it was normal.... I stopped going to the Dr because they just kept telling it was Normal...  Well Normal made me loose a job because i either could not go to work because i would wake up puking or when i would get to work and take a drink of hot tea i would start puking.... I was told that it was too much of a distraction and i was not dependable! With loosing my job i had to buy Cobra Insurance and i went to another Dr he said he oh you must be too tight so he removed Everything from my band.... i was still getting sick.... i gave up...got another job...3 months into it i got so sick i was rushed to the hospital ... Did an emergency gall bladder removed .... I was yellow with infection... my gall bladder was 3xs the normal size with over 1,000 stone! Now the General Surgeon that did my surgery said WHY did your weight loss Dr check you gall bladder that should be the FIRST thing that should be check if you are puking after having a fast weight loss.
SO my 2 years of puking almost every day could have fix from the START!  I now have permanent issues with puking ....  If i wanted to do this i would have never had the surgery... i can actually eat and bend over and my food will fall back out of my mouth... So now i can't hardly eat anything good because it won't stay down... i pretty much live on soup... and some day that doesn't stay down...  I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE BAND AND WISH I WOULD HAVE NEVER DONE IT!

***Update*** My band was removed 02/14/11.... But here is something i wish i would of heard about when it first started. The week before they Removed my band i was Flo scoped in the office and they saw my bubbles in my esophagus Next day i fasted they put me under and Scoped me and saw NOTHING ...AGAIN...I was angry and i was done I told him i wanted it OUT...  BUT here is the part Everyone with the Band should see the Dr gave me  (write this down!) hyoscyamine 0.125mg ...told me to take it 20 min before i wanted to eat or drink ...by the day of my surgery of my removal i felt FINE! I mean the next day i was sore from puking so much but i could hold down hot tea, jello, soup... took it the rest of the week and i swear i he would of just given this to me in the start of it all i bet i still would have the band...and prolly be a great patient... Well I hope that helps someone out here... Good luck Everyone

Thanks for sharing. I wish more bandsters with issues would do this! Those that are pre-op need to know about thigs like this!

Sorry you had to go through years of hell with your band.

There is a Failed Band Group on Facebook. Please join and share your story there also!
