What the hell
I am really struggling. I can';t seem to put more than 2 good days together. Today I bought icecream sandwiches because they were buy one get one free- what an excuse. I don't even know how many l ate, plus I've had some wine. I lost ove 100 pounds and have gained back 30. I continue to be going in the wrong direction. Help!!!
getting back on track after the holidays are so hard and from the posts I have read on here and with me going through it also seems like everybody is struggling right now.
I told myself Monday would be a fresh day. I did really well on Monday ate well, did my extreme Zumba and then Monday night I fell down our stairs and couldn't walk very well.
yesterday I sat in the chair all day and what did I do eat things I shouldn't have *sigh*.
It's so hard to get back on track again after you get off track .
All we can do is keep trying . I wish we could wave a magic wand and boom we get back on track. My sister said you had WLS done this should be easy . Oh hell, if I had a dollar for everyime I heard that line I would be rich right now .
I wish I could give you more advice, or advice that works but I cant :o( . All I can say is we did it before we just have to get our mind back into the groove again and its alot easier said then done .

It's really hard to keep up the momentum when you're over a year out and have lost a lot of weight. I would submit that there's something other than bad food choices driving your weight gain. Do you have insurance to see a food addiction/compulsive over-eating therapist? I started doing this just after my first year and it has helped. I'm still stuck and am not losing any more, but I have maintained my original WL withing 10 lbs. (that's the cushion I give myself especially around the holidays.)
I'm working on finding my next passion. What is my motivation for losing more weight or maintaining my WL. That's the big question. Early on, post op, the motivation is to lose weight and it's easy to stay motivated when the pounds are dropping off, people are noticing and giving you lots of positive feedback, etc. Then people start getting used to the new you, the compliments stop, the scale won't budge and it's REALLY hard to find a new goal that continues to motivate.
What do I do? I pull out my before and after pictures and force myself to remember what it was like to be 100 lbs heavier. None of us want to go back there but our addiction to food or emotional eating habits didn't disappear with the weight. Now the hard work begins...figuring out why you became obese in the first place and what you have to chang/deal with to change your life forever.
Therapy helps me. If you can, I would give it a try and start working on your next motivation.
You can do this and you know what to do. Make the healthy choice for YOU! You deserve it!
Best~

One day at a time. If you have to, break it down to half a day at a time.
One decision at a time. In the supermarket, you look at those ice cream sandwiches; look for individual ones, or those mini pint containers from Ben & Jerry's and get one of those instead. You're still indulging but you're not bringing home the ammo to indulge to the 10th degree for three days straight, you know?
Don't take on a week at a time. Take on a day at a time and if you have to, take on an hour at a time. Break it down.
Best of luck!

I agree with Janine. Trying to make big changes all at once is too overwhelming (for me, anyway), but if I break it down into little pieces, it's more manageable.
And I also agree with Lisa. Maybe talking with a counselor can help you figure out why you're sabotaging yourself and how to change that.

I start by kicking one habit at a time. Right now, this week, I am detoxing off sugar, absolutely no sugar, and next week if the sugar is fully kicked I will either kick out another bad food choice or add in walking. Just one thing at a time I seem to do better that way.
But I also put the old VERY FAT pictures of me on my frig so I see them before I open it! That always helps..

I know there are people who say "one day at a time." Well sometimes it is "one meal at a time" or "one grocery store trip at a time." I also know that for me going to the store with a grocery list (after I've decided what meals I'll eat all week) and only buying what is on the list helps. Just keep trying.
Thanks for all the advice and encouragement. I am feelingreally motivated today. I am going to eat lowcarb/low fat/high protien. I am visiting a friend in Al in about a month. I would love to loose 10 pounds. I think it's doable because it will include that rapid weight loss I always have when I get back on track.
You know, I'm not sure this is going to help at all but it did for me. I'm and emotional eater and I'm a carb lover. When I beat myself up over my food choices I tended to fall farther off track rather than motivating myself to get back on the wagon. Once I quit doing it, I started keeping my weight off. So instead of tough love from me this is what I've got for ya. Ok so you bought 2 boxes of ice cream sandwiches, heck with a deal like that I'd have done the same! So ya ate more than one....maybe more than one box. Guess what, we all have bad days. Even skinny, never had to lose a pound people!! You can't take back what ya already had so instead of feeling guilty about it (possibly causing you to eat the second box as well) how about enjoying the endulgance, savoring the flavor, and going on about your day? Almost 4 years post-op, I still fall in to the guilt trap and throw myself off track if I'm not careful. I have to remind myself that EVERYONE eats that kind of stuff from time to time....if they didn't it wouldn't be on the shelf!! Its not JUST for skinny people who can "afford" to eat it, its an indulgance for EVERYONE! No person is more deserving of a treat than another!! If you are craving a treat then indulge in it without guilt, enjoy it with your head high and go on about your day. I really think that this is the key to success with any diet, WLS included or not. We have to learn that no food is BAD and we aren't BAD for eating it. Food is simply energy, eating it in all its forms is NORMAL. So congratulations for being normal, have a great week, day or minute (which ever is easiest to get through) and remember, a treat isn't the end of a good run that you have to recover from and get back on track, it was just a treat!!
