Need a swift, solid kick in the pants

 Hi All,

My third anniversary of being banded has come and gone.  I could sit here and lament the fact that my surgeon turned out to be a real a-hole, or that the band just didn't work for me, or a million other things.

The fact is, that it all boils down to me and what I stick in my mouth and how much I move my body.  I started at 290# and lost down to 222# and was feeling great.  Had one visit with my surgeon that messed up my head and voila!  Now I am up to 273#!!!!!!

So, I needto start over with this tool and be accountable to someone.  I begged hubby to be that person, but he is unable to give me what for when I eat or don't exercise.  God love him, but he is just a teddy bear.

We are planning my dream trip to England in October and I do not want to be that person on the plane that everyone wants to avoid sitting next to.  So, it is time to start all over from the beginning.
Any advice or words of encouragement are appreciated.  Just soyou know, I have not seen my surgeon in a year and a half and am unable to start with someone new as my hubby has just lost his job.  Can you say holiday stress eating???

Thanks in advance,
Toni

Is a revision an option for you? Or are you set on making the band work for you?

Reason I'm asking is because it's been three years for you; your metabolism is probably shot from eating a low calorie diet for that long.  Making the band work for you now will be very hard.  I'm speaking from experience; My band was 3 1/2 years old when I got rid of mine.  Losing half a pound with my band at 3+ years out was close to impossible.

Best of luck!!

 Janine,

No, revision isn't an option and I wish I could say that I have been eating low calorie all this time.  When I do portion my food correctly and stick to band rules, I do lose weight, I just haven't been doing it. :(

Thanks for the response!

Hi since you can't go get a fill you might check into the 5 day pouch test diet. Just google it and it will come up. This will make you feel tighter. I have had struggles with this band too! I have lost 79 lbs in 3 1/2 years. I still have 30 more lbs to go. I just keep trying different things. I knew the holidays were coming so I asked my family dr for some diet pills. I lost 13 lbs in about 2 months through both holidays. Yea! I started on Jillian Michaels whey protein shakes and added frozen strawberries and a greek yogurt and a squirt of Mio water inhancer mango/peach and 1 cup of water and ice. This makes a great shake. I do it 2X daily and eat a healthy choice dinner and I have a cheese stick and a few pretzels around 3:00 for a snack and I have one before bed. I have been walking twice a day 15 min in the morning 15 in the afternoon. It's not alot but I can do it on my breaks at work. I am fixing to start my HGC diet. This is amazing you can loose about 15 lbs in 21 days. You will get bashed on here if you mention it but you have to do what works for you. Check out Hcgdietinfo.com it is a forum for the diet. You must read pounds and inches for the rules. It is so strict but it works. I am ready to get these last 30 lbs off. Plus you don't exercise while you are doing it. The inches you loose is fantastic. Check it out and the best of Luck to Ya!!!

Thanks Renae!  I am going to google the 5 day pouch test and see if that will jump start anything.  I know I am a big, bad carb addict!  :)

Hi Toni-
i realize i'm newly banded (10/20)...but i journal EVERYTHING i put into mouth-i count the calories, the protein and the fiber.  writing it down makes me accountable!

good luck to you-i know you can do this! and you will love England!!
