Has anyone had there band slip & then had it fixed & then lost weight?  Did you have it in the states or Mexico & did it cost just as much as the original surgery?

I had to have surgery to fix my slip.  My intitial surgery was from a horrible surgeon.  My second surgeon did a wonderful job.  He took his time with fills so that I could heal correctly.  I was going through a lot in my personal life, and turned to food.  So, a loose band, and bad eating didn't make for a successful first year with my fixed band.  However, I attained good restriction and a better attitude and saw some success this last year.

Even though I know successes can happen after a slip repair, my recommendation would be to get a revision to a sleeve or RNY.  The sleeve wasn't available to me at the time of my repair, and my surgeon didn't recommend the RNY because of the scarring.  Good luck!

Nope, sorry. I had a slip, fix and then near death experience. The stats after the first slip are generally very bad, with a second slip being very common.

Thank you so much for the reply, I am trying to decide what I am going to do.  My Dr. doesnt do the sleeve which is the other option I am looking at doing & I have to have it done out of the country.

I am thrilled with my Sleeve, and if you hit up the VSG board you will find many bandsters who had slips and revised and are just as happy.

I honestly didn't mean to come off so short in my last post, I was on my phone with a two year old screaming at me that he needed a diaper. I hope it did not come off the way I just read it to myself LOL

But honestly, if you do a little reserach you will see that once a band slips it is likely to slip again, especailly if the slip is not fixed surgically. And if you are going to have to have surgery again anyway, why not go for something that does not run a high risk of a third surgery? Know what I mean?

Good luck, and feel free to PM me any time if you have any questions about the sleeve!

Oh you are fine, I didnt take it bad at all. :)  My cousin just had her band removed & got the sleeve.  I am just a litle nervous about having something different done.  I know the band we have a history. lol  A rocky one but it is familiar to me.  I sound like I am affraid to leave an abusive relationship. lol

Ok so can you tell me what was the hardest part about the sleeve in the beginning?

Honestly, I have not had any "hard" parts since being sleeved. It's been a fairly smooth ride for me, the transition was amazing and the sleeve is everything I had always hoped the band would be. My weight loss has been pretty consistent and easy. I live by all the same rules I did with my band, only now they work for me b/c I can actually eat the healthy foods I want and need to fuel my body.
