I'm in some serious SUGAR ADDICT trouble!
HI Suzanne,
I am totally where you are. I had surgery last december and am down 61lbs. but am finding that healthy foods get stuck and slidder foods, which you should not eat go down real easy. I am starting out the new year like a brand new lab band patient. Going back to strick journaling, and adding back in protien shakes and tracking everything. I am here with ya drop me a note we can do this together!!

If you can't eat 'real' food, your band is probably just a little too tight.
You will probably always be able to eat sweets (they melt in your mouth and slide right down through your band).
In my opinion, you need a little (tiny) unfill, and you need to get the crap out of your environment.
I would eat cream of chicken soup and tuna/chicken/egg salad until I got the band adjusted --- or chili or other soft, protein-rich foods.
I see 2 issues ---- 1, too tight, and 2 -- too many easy to eat carbs.
When I need to 'carb cleanse', I stock up on my favorite proteins --- add a little bit of a cheese that I love and some nuts ----- things that are protein rich, but also fatty --- so, I don't eat them regularly --- but they do help me not feel deprived.
I toss out the carbs that have gathered in my house and I eat protein first at every meal and snack for 3 days ---- and then the carb cravings are gone ---- usually taking a few pounds with them.

I wish I had some advice for you, I too am a suger addict. I have lost 86 pounds and i'm on 6lbs away from goal, but I've been here for a few monthss now, because I'm eating candy. My manager keeps a candy dish full of candy and I visit the candy dish several times a day, pot lucks, and all the junk food, holiday dinners and the stress at work makes me want to eat all day even when I'm not hungry, my cravings have been getting the best of me. but I stay on top of working out and I have decided as of tomorrow I wil give me my best and back to the band basics low carbs, sugar and fat. I'm focusing on protien and veggies. I'll be 40 in two weeks and it will be great to be at goal for my birthday. I wish you well, you are not alone in your struggle with the sugar.
one last thing, I agree it's best if you just stay away from it, I was able to go a full year with no candy, once I had it, I've been struggling every since. try to go cold turkey and stay clear from it.

I find the only way to avoid them is to Totally Avoid Them!
the day after the New Year - when everyone returned to their own homes - I took a big trash bag and filled it with cookies, fudge, chips, dips and ice cream. I through it all away. IF it's in my home, it will call my name! I have great hearing when it comes to Doritos!
I always kick start my new starts - (After 4 years - there have been many!) with returning to my pre-op diet! NO carbs, High protein! I don't count calories, I just count carbs and protein! It curbs my cravings in about 3 days and I can sit next to a cookie and never hear a peep!
Try it. Eat slow, take those pea-sized bites (as we are instructed) don't spend more than 20 -30 mins on your meal, don't drink with your meals and wait 60 mins after your last bite - AND hopefully those solid proteins will remain in your tummy and give you that full sensation long enough to help you avoid those Sugar Treats!
Good Luck!
