 Ah, you are still young, just ask my gramdma (she just turned 92 and thinks anyone under 80 is a spring chicken LOL). I think its awesome that you are doing it, and to even be AT 35 is amazing to me, I am so.freaking.slow  I have added some strength training to my days "off" from running in the hopes that building my core muslces will help with my speed. Right now I am at about 4miles/hour, so I have quite a bit of work to do. 

I will do the 10k this year no matter what, even if I have to walk part of it, but to run it would be amazing!

Edited to change km to miles! 

 I'm really bad about training! Just do a bit on the treadmill a couple of weeks before. I actually power walk, jogging just doesn't work for me somehow. So I look really peculiar but I walk at almost 8k (nearly 5 miles ) an hour and overtake slow joggers. In a 5k event, I start at a run so that I can start with the runners and not get caught up with slower walkers. Then once the real runners have raced off, I go to power walking.

I was supposed to o a half marathon last September but hurt my foot and couldn't  take part.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
