Mine is to try to understand why I overeat and to not react to the triggers around me (TV ads, cooking shows, people) that fool my brain in to saying "Hungry".

My post actually is not showing up for some reason. I copied it from my blog. And it was a good post too!

Anyway..........I think it's just brain chemistry. Some just have an addictive personality. And I don't know how many times I've said..........food addiction is the hardest! U can tell a drunk not to drink. U can tell a junkie not to do drugs. But u can NOT tell a food addict not to eat. Therefore..........we are constantly surrounded by the temptation. Makes it harder on us. :-(

Yeah, most recovering addicts make a choice to avoid the risky behaviors (triggers, people, habits) that make them want to use. There is no way I can avoid the fridge, the grocery store, and food ads. Eventually we all have to come in contact with food.
I just argued with my sister today when she compared her quitting smoking with my losing weight. I said it is two totally different things, because if she walked away from ciggs today she wouldn't ever have to pick one up again. I can't do the same thing.

I had smoked about 10 years when I quit, and it is NOT the same! I don't think about cigarettes anymore. Now If I had to have them 3 tmies a day to sustain, I would want them all the time I'm sure.

I have thought about joining. I did a trial membership a few months ago. Didn't hate it as much as I thought I would. lol

I resolve to run a 10K! I just signed up for my first timed race (5k) in April, and I want to be able to RUN the whole thing from start to finish by the time April rolls around (and qualify for the under 35 mins group for the next race I run, right now I am no where near that time!).

Tripmom, mine is similar. I have put my name down for a 5k. Last year I did it in 35 minutes exactly. This year I want to be under that.  Trouble is, age is aganst me. 60 last time, 61 this time!
