Reality bites!

Back to good band living! Just ten weeks until I go on a six week trip around The Malay Peninsula and Borneo. None of this air conditioned coach rubbish - trekking through and camping in rain forests, using local transport etc.. All the clothing I use for this sort of travelling was bought when I was about 145lbs and I am currently 155!

So back to reality. The first five or so pounds will, from past experience, come off in a week. And actually I am sick to death of rich food! Actually looking forward to getting back to what is nowadays my normal eating pattern.

Bet I am not the only one feeling like this!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Sounds like a great trip Kate.  I got back on the band wagon last week...6 lbs of the 8 I had gained gone.  Then I'm started work on the last 20 lbs.  Good luck to you

Yes, as you say, I always find fast gain can be followed by fast lss. As long as I don't  give it time to settle!

Kate,
I got to this spot 2 weeks ago.

I started a new position at work in September and spent 10 of the last 12 weeks of the year traveling to 'learn the ropes'.

I was so tired of eating out and being off if my normal exercise routine.

I was also up 9 pounds .... And that shocked the heck out of me.

So, I got back home and have had vacation time to get my house In order and have dropped 11 pounds ....back below my weigh****cher goal weight.

You are so right that the first 5 will probably drop right away .... As soon as I go 3 or 4 days without liquid calories (ditch the latte, frappe, chardonnay), the scale moves for me.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Kath, yes, for those of us for whom the band works, that is the  joy of it! I never worry about periods of over indulgence. I know, from almost five years of being below goal, that it can be lost!

One more thought...... In years past, I would have seen my weight at 164 on December 15th and thought "screw it" .... And eaten myself up to 175by New Years day .... And then have to tackle a 20 pound gain.

I actually WANTED to exercise and eat well during the holidays.

In the past I wanted to deny the truth and shirk responsibility for the gain ... Just blame it on the job, blah, blah, blah.

Now, I want to be fit and strong.

It is sunny and almost 70 degrees here today ..... After a healthy late breakfast, we are going to take the dog hiking .. Then come home and watch the Cowboys beat the Giants (we hope)!

Well Cowboys against Giants sounds like a Hans Christian Andersen fariy tale to this Brit! But enjoy it anyway! Watch out for the Wicked StepMother bearing spples.

Hi Kate,

What a wonderful vacation!  Sounds like a lot of fun.

I am back to reality as well.  I had to have fluid taken out of my band over 6 months ago due to some issues and with that as well as a lot of stress eating then the holidays and birthdays, I've gained about 22 lbs!  I had a small fill a few weeks ago and have some restriction back so I'm back on the bandwagon as of today.  I have to admit to eating a lot of slider foods over the holidays so I haven't really been taking advantage of the restriction I got back, but I told myself I wasn't going to worry about anything until the holidays and all the birthdays were over.  But they're over and my daughter has gone back to college and I can do my own thing now so I am determined to be a good bandster again and lose the added weight as well as work towards losing the rest of my weight.

I'm starting a new position within my company in a few months which will put me out in the public a lot more and I know I'll feel more confident if I start losing this weight again.  I joined a new gym which just opened yesterday so I plan to start exercising again as well.  Even without being at the sweet spot, which I have never really known, the pounds will come off if I exercise and follow band rules, so I know I can do this.  You have proven over the years that the band continues to work if you work it, so I know you'll get back down to your goal and I can reach mine!  Like you, I am actually tired of all the rich and fatty food I've been eating, so I'm happy to be back on plan.

Have fun on your vacation!
