2 and 3+ yrs out. Need to hear from you.
Thank you so much for all the posts everyone. As of Sept 2011, I'm four years out. I too had a baby after 75lbs lost and she is almost two. I've had several fills since the baby and would like to lose 25lbs more. I've been too tight several times but mostly w/ allergy issues that arise months after a fill. I've too have been particularly discourage b/c a gal that works w/ me that I see several times a day got the 'sleeve' and seemed to get to a size 8 from like a 22 in a very short time. I asked why she choose the sleeve over the band and she said she didn't have the 'time' for the maintenance due to 3 kids and work. I have two kids and work. So I've doubted my decision too and appreciate the posts of the successes and struggles. I think often of getting another fill but I too often fill up on 'liquid' food/coffee instead of good proteins b/c they are so hard to get down. So your posts have made me 'rethink' that fill and work harder at eating the good proteins in smaller bites and chew. You know ...the basics. I may try getting that book too. I'm a cash patient so any fills are hard on the pocket book. THe book is quite a *****eaper. lol. Easterngirl, Let us know what your surgeon says. I know we have a band support group supported by our surgeon. The counselor suggested meeting w/ the nutritionist after keeping a log of what I eat and drink. But at $75 a hour w/ a nutritionist, that's had to 'stomach' too. Plus I feel that doing that is alot like WW n didn't think that was necessary w/ a band. I had much success my first year too I believe by using the blog, weight tracker and forum. SO I'm back to the OH site and appreciate these posts.
Alexus, the reason I like it here is the local support group is all those who are only 1 to 6 months out. There is one woman there who is 5yrs out and just became a patient of the local surgeon. My surgeon is 2 1/2 hrs from me. Sometimes I think I could have done better if I were closer and got more fill adjustments instead of thinking, Oh brother 225 miles for an office visit, maybe I'll just deal with it....
I got the book "Eat It Up" and that helped me realize a few things. I know everything I eat is a choice, but it's like a whining nagging child that you just want to shut up, even if it's a bad choice.
Trying to stick to protein first, but I can eat a great deal more at dinner time than I feel I should be able to. I don't feel the "STOP" sensation at dinner and after.

HI you sound very much like me....I went to see my Dr Tues the 3rd and he looked at my band under xray and my band looked great and my restriction looked great so he did not take any out or put any in. He told me that the band is doing what it needs to and it is up to ME to do what I need to do. He said I need to find a balance between exercise and diet and change my lifestyle. :-)
You know he is right....I have made huge changes since the band but here lately I have been eating things that are sliders because they are easier. I have not gained any weight but have only lost 4 pounds since April 2011.
So I am going to go back to the basics. I am like you, being able to eat a lot at dinner. I am going to fix my plate and just know that that is all I can have!! (However I was a bit suprised at how much you are eating cause I still can not eat that much even at dinner)
I think they call that will power.......and I have none!! But I am going to find it cause I did not have this surgery to fail and I am so thankful and blessed to have this TOOL.
I never understood why people called it a tool until now. Now that I am almost 2 years out I know that I have some work to do and the band will assist me not do it for me. :-)
Good luck to you and many blessing........
