Birth Control???

Has anyone stopped their birth control prior to lap band? My surgeon says it will reduce blood clots but my GYN says it wont make a difference since what i take is low dose. Any advice?

My surgeon agreed with your Gyn and I took mine and never stopped.  I never had any problems.

I think I was already off BCP before lap band, can't remember, however... just keep in mind that being obese increases the surgical risks anyway so even a low dose BCP can add some risk. Most likely nothing will happen but you probably won't want to be having sex for at least a couple of weeks after lap band so what's the harm in getting off it and then back on after surgery? My surgeon required all medications to stop 2 weeks before surgery except my prozac which I got to keep until a few days before. I would just recommend doing the safest, least risky thing for yourself and you'll have to weigh the options to see which one it is.

I stopped mine, but then again, I was only on it to regulate my cycle. My plumbing is all jacked up, so there is no way for Mr. Spermi to get anywhere near Ms. Eggo.

Somewhat related question...if you take your birth control and you PB, or have sliming or vomiting soon after do you need to retake it? It hasn't happened but I do take mine around dinner time so I'm curious.
