N-E-1 Had Port Replacement?- 2nd thoughts

I went to the doc for a fill...
My doc put in 4 cc and only pulled 3 cc out. It was a light pink color.
-say whaa? That isn't normal! I started crying in fear.

After a painful, annoying "endo scopic- test-thing", I found that I do not have an issue with the band itself, (no erosion) leading the doc to conclude that it is a port leak.

Has anyone had this? I was told it is not an emergency. I do not need to have surgery right away. So, why am I freaking? I haven't stopped crying. How long can it wait?
Why am I having, almost, second thoughts? I was banded only 2 years ago... And I have to have surgery?! That's not a great feeling. I occasionally want to say "juat take it out!"
I feel like I did something wrong; I feel let down and like I let people down.
Can anyone offer advice? Feedback? Suggestions?
Thanks all.

I didn't have to have my port replaced, but I did to get a "low profile" one. It was no big deal: it took longer to get me processed for the outpatient surgery than it did for the surgery itself. Took the weekend to relax and I was fine for work on Monday. And, if I remember right, it was just a year or two after my surgery.

Sorry to hear this, but I kinda had the same problem and it turned out they did not access my port there was a fluid pocket around muy port that had a pink colored fluid in it when they did the fill under fluro the hit the port and the fluid color was normal. hopefully thats the case and you dont have to have any thing replaced.  Hope all turns out well for you

Since you now need another surgery (2nd and even 3rd band surgeries are COMMON!)................JUST GET RID OF IT! Revise to a more effective WLS!

Did you know this, going into the whole process? I am surprised (obviously). Have you undergone any additional surgeries since you were banded?
If not, would you have the band removed, if you knew an additional surgery was coming?

I had no idea that the complication rate was so high and that so few bandsters even make it to 5 years out with a band! Had I known then what I know now I NEVER woudl have gotten the band!!!

I have not had another surgery (yet), however considering the high complication rate, I fully expect it. I will not have a surgery to correct (replacement/repair). If I need another surgery I will at least have it removed, and preferably revise.

You might want to take alook at the band info from ASMBS:

I pulled my port loose from my stomach wall doing crunches at the gym a couple of years ago, and opted to have it replaced with the low profile port about a year after it came loose.  The surgery took only a few minutes and I felt great, a little sore for a few days, but nothing terrible.  I had good restriction when my port came loose and it was quite mobile, so we were able to just move it around to access it for the fill I had before the replacement.  I wouldnt have even found replacement necessary if I hadn't wanted the low profile port.  I lost all of my excess weight and my port was VERY apparent (pics in my profile, they are almost nude though!!) so I opted for the replacement despite not wanting to go under again.  Once it was over and done I kicked myself for waiting so long, the surgery was nothing!!  Try not to be frightened and if you need some time, wait!!
