I have surgery scheduled for tomorrow and I'm nervous. I'm wondering if I should've done the sleeve. I saw some people online that have had to have the lap band removed. Please give me your feedback.

well the night before - no matter what surgery you have, of course you'll have jitters.

that said, check out the revision board & the other surgery boards.   yes, some had to have a second surgery & some here are happy with their band.   all personal...me, i would have gone with the sleeve in the first place - but it wasn't much talked about or done in 2006/2007.

ETA:  complications were also not talked about / reported / discussed as they are today.

Jitters are normal.  I am having them also, my band is coming out on Thursday.  Am I making the right choice?  Been having Shortness of breath and pain in the middle of my chest intermittantly since July.  Had PE then, none since, hospitalized in August, everything good, no clue what is causing this.
Good luck tomorrow.

I understand the jttters. Just remember no matter which surgery your having, every body is different and reacts differently.
Good luck keep us posted

Hi Spencer, I had a lap band that I had to have removed.  I'm having a band reinstalled early next year.  My current surgeon believes the band was installed too high, he and his team are going to follow me closely to ensure my success.  Ask your surgeon for his statistics.  Just because you see a number of folks post that they had to have a band removed doesn't mean that you will follow suit.  Additionally, every surgeon keeps statistics on his successes and failures.  There are a number of "factory" type surgeons that perform the surgery like oil changes whereas others are more focused on the individual and really work hard to ensure your success.  I wish you much success with your band!
