You CAN'T FAIL YOUR BAND IF....

You can't fail if you stay consistent.
You have to be consistent with your diet and exercise plan.

*If you wake up each morning and take a long walk or go to the gym each morning - you can't fail

*If you plan your meals each day (mostly lean proteins) - you can't fail

*If you get your needed fills to HELP you along the way - you can't fail

*If you get too tight and start having issues and get an unfill BEFORE it's too late - you can't have complications that are preventable

*If you have excellent aftercare and a supportive surgical team - you can't fail

*If you keep a positive attitude every day - YOU CAN'T FAIL

If you keep positive people as friends in your life - YOU CAN'T FAIL

I think this one "*If you get too tight and start having issues BEFORE it's too late - you can't have complications that are preventable" is supposed to say something about, "...if you get an unfill or seek medical help before it's too late...

Anyway, these are great tips and if you do all these things, rest assured, you will not have failed your band.

Unfortunately, your band can still fail you despite your best efforts. If that is you, just know that it happens to the best of us. Get that sucker cut out, revise if you want to, and do not internalize the band failure. You didn't fail your band, it failed you.

Best,
Lindsey

These are excellent ways of minimising risk. Some complications are neither preventable nor avoidable but we can indeed work to optimise our chances of success.

I agree with pretty much all of this, but with your phrasing in particular: YOU CAN'T FAIL YOUR BAND.

It's still possible for LOTS of people to have their bands fail THEM, and you have left room for that possibility. Thank you!

For clarity..... Remember the key word PREVENTABLE, I am sure the band have many mechanical failues and sometimes people have medical issues that may interere with the band and its effectiveness, but overall most issues are preventable.

Actually, you CAN do all of these things and still have a failed band. The band can FAIL YOU, whether or not you do ALL of these things. Not the other way around.

THE BAND FAILS.

In this thread, I actually think Naomi is accepting that the band can fail. I read this as saying simply that there are things  we can do to avoid preventable damage.

I think she is passive aggressive as all get out.

You can do everything right and have band failure at any time and it is not "preventable" in any way. The human body reacts. No one has power over that. And she is implying that IF you do these things, the band won't fail. Wait, excuse me, YOU won't FAIL the band. Again... with the blaming the patient not the device.

Having watched scores of my friends go through the same thing I did with the band, I have to say something to warn the potential bandsters so they don't believe the misinformation she perpetuates.

I did every single one of these things and my band still nearly killed me. There is no such thing as "preventable damage" with the band, b/c it could be doing damage even while you are doing everything right and even when you can't yet feel it in order to seek medical help for it (or even think that you need too!). I had no real issues that required medical intervention until it was almost too late.
