Anytime you are sick your band usually gets tighter for some reason. However if you are better and still having issues I would call your surgeon for advise, reflux is not a good thing when banded. Another issue can be that quit often at the 2-3 yr. mark many of us start having issues with our bands tightening for no reason and needing to have partial unfills. Either way your surgeon would be the one to talk to because again reflux and the band are a combination for trouble! Until you can resolve the problem try eating softer foods so you don't cause more irritation.
It is possible your band is now too tight. If you're dehydrated from your illness - this can tighten the band. You may want to call your doctor and ask him if he wants to check your band placement since this is a new occurance.
I would suggest not eating or drinking anything 4 hours before bedtime. Make sure your tummy, upper and lower, is completely empty.

The only time I had reflux ( very, very mildly), I asked for an unfill, just a tiny one. I am paranoid about having a tight band!
However, when I have phlegm, as you will have had with bronchitis, I find that night time drainage of mucus seems to pool above the band, making me feel as if I have something in my throat. i thought at first it was reflux but then realised what it was. Once the mucus was no longer in evidence, the problem went away.

Are you eating differently because of the holidays? I found myself eating more sugar and fattening foods and I was getting a little reflux. I took a prilosec a couple of times and watched my food better. Also with bronchitis, you tend to swallow some of the extra sputum which can be irritating, as well review the meds you took. Ibuprophen can irritate the stomach as will cough medicines. Coughing can cause reflux too. It is never a bad idea to give the doc a call.
