The magic of food

People sometimes ask if they will ever be able to eat normally with the band. Well last night I went to a first class restaurant. As always in such places, the pace was leisurely and the courses not enormous. Very much quality over quantity. This is what I ate. And I almost, but not quite, finished every course!

Canapes
Chef's complimentary chicken parfait
Duck liver pate with brioche
Complimentary sorbet
Rack of lamb with dauphinoise potatoes, red cabbage with wild mushoom and madeira jus
Creme brulee with shortcake and blackcurrant coulis
Coffee and petits fours

Gin and tonic before
Cabernet sauvignon with
Dessert Muscat afterwards.

Can anyone explain why I am 4lbs heavier this morning???

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Only 4 pounds heavier?

Surely it wasn't the food that did that. It must've been the alcohol - it's dehydrating and causes fluid retention...a LOT of fluid retention...

Jean, I actually think it was the the coffee  that did it.

Sodium??  I'm sure you will drink it away -- with water Kate!!! Not more gin and tonic

Sounds like a good time in either case!! And didn't you work on that, what, 6 pound buffer?  I'm sure you are still all good!

Lol- thinking you don't need an explanation. Of course it wasn't 4 pounds of fat. Sounds like a great time and great food. The weight will fall right back off it you get right back on track. Glad you had a nice night out.

Thanks! Yes, it was great!  Not just the meal but the fact it was part of an over night stay  in a five star country house hotel - almost 500 years old, very grand!

Everythings sounds wonderful! Especially the lamb and the creme brulee'! Still trying to picture what a chicken parfait might be?

And it is amazing how weight can vary just over the course of a day!
