I haven't had a fill yet, so I have been eating breads with no problems. I do stay away from white breads however, due to it being on my surgeons DO NOT EAT FOR THE REST OF YOUR BANDED LIFE list!
I also toast my bread for the most part, but even when I don't, I have not had a problem. I agree that cornbread may be an issue, but you won't know for sure til you try it.
Good luck!

I don't understand why you would stay away from white breads? wheat bread expands more then white bread does... which to me would make me think it would be more likely to make you stuck - or am I missing some other type of bread that you do eat?
Like some of the others I can eat toasted bread in small amounts. But any kind of doughy bread, bisquit or wrap is a no go. I consider that a plus. I used to love bread and ate far too much of it. Now it's no longer an issue. If I really want a taste, I can...but only a bite or two well chewed. Most times I pass

I attended a meeting last week on the lapband and mixed results were reported. There was one speaker that could eat everything, even rice. The other had to stick to wraps rather than spongy bread and limited pasta and rice. I think one of the tricks is how slowly you eat and if you chew really well.

I can't eat bread like most of you can, I'm allergic to it! ..but I can have Gluten Free Bread and I often have half of a pb&fluff sandwich for lunch. My bread is REALLY small and tends to be on the dry side. I have to toast it first. I only get stuck when I'm not thinking and just "EAT."

Like everything else, I can eat bread just in much smaller quantities. If I eat the bread they bring to the table at a restaurant (even just half the roll) I'm too full for my meal so it's easy to say no to the bread and wait for what I'm really looking forward to. I eat the occasional Subway sub (just not the whole thing), I love to have pizza (thin crust, only one or two slices), sometimes I have garlic bread but again just a small piece. The beauty of the lapband is it's all about moderation.
When I was newly banded and just getting restriction bread, especially doughy bread, was reallly tough. Part of it is learning the new signals from your body and paying attention to them. Everyone reacts differently to different foods so YMMV.

I'm newlybanded and I was surprised when on my list of recommended foods my doctor has whole wheat bread. I asked her about this because with all my research and info from others on boards bread was a big no no.
My doctor stated that the band has changed a lot over the year and the newer bands are a lot more flexible and forgiving. They found that if they restricted people from things that it just didn't work. So it really depends on the band you get. I would talk to your doctor about what they recommend.
I eat bread but I have only had one fill though a large fill.
