I come from a Generation of Bread Eaters and while i am prepared to make adjustments to my diet for the sake of this tool. I just need to know if i will ever be able to eat bread again?Once this surgery is done, Not even cornbread? I know it may sound crazy to some but i had to ask.

I eat bread I don't eat as much as I use to but I fix me a sandwich a couple times a week. I just had a subway veggie last night . Every thing in moderation

I buy like low carb high fiber breads . Healthy life I think what it's called is 16 x
Carbs for two slices and like 5 grams of protein and fiber in it.

Just an FYI to clarify for the OP.

I'm not 100% on this because she does not include her signature when posting anymore, but I believe SteelerFan has no fills her in band. I have replied to her, so hopefully she will come clarify if I am mistaken.

I could eat bread when my band was open, but any time I attempted a slight fill to try and get restriction, I would no longer be able to eat bread. Everyone is different, but I think a subway sub would give most (not all) bandsters who have any level of restriction a problem.

Best,
Lindsey

Lindsey, yes, I go along with that. I say I can eat all bread but that doesn't mean anything like even a small Subway roll. It wouldn't get stuck but I could proably eat a third of one of  the small ones!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Lindsey,

What does not having a  fill in your band have to do with eating bread ?

I go to lunch with two girls every week that has a lap band  one has 10 cc's and one has 8cc's in a large band   They have no problems eating bread.  They take careful bites and they chew well and have no problems.  And yes even a subway sub .

No I dont have fills and according to my yearly exam of my band my doc said even a small fill would make me to tight. I have just right amount of restriction in my band right now.  He was watching it on the screen and he thinks me getting a fill would do more harm to me then good .
He said probably losing another 20-40 pounds some where around there I will probably need one but he said he isnt going to fix something that isnt broken.   I have lost 7 pounds in two weeks eating between 900 to 1300 calories a day .

I can go 3-5 hrs after my meal and be very happy.  Go**** always seems like I have to defend myself on here because I haven't had no fills .   To me from what everybody says on here when you can go that long without wanting to eat then you  have good restriction .

Hey Steeler, I didn't mean to strike a nerve. I wasn't insinuating that you should have a fill or anything, I just wanted the OP to know that while you can eat a sub, her mileage may vary if she chooses to seek restriction via fills.

I agree that some people don't receive restriction even with fills, but for many, not all, but many, a subway sub would be difficult.

Don't ever feel you have to defend yourself to me. If you are happy with your results, that is all that matters. I was just trying to help the OP see the full picture.

Best,
Lindsey

Lindsey,

I'm sorry I didn't mean to come out with guns blazing .

I just read your post at a wrong time and I just got done defending myself to certain family members and then I saw your post and I felt like I was being attacked on here again for not having any fills and people on here saying I dont have restriction that I'm not using the band right and I have wasted my money.

I felt like I was being attacked again.  I guess  when you defend so much then you start getting really defensive and come out with guns blazing .

Once again I'm sorry for being rude I let my anger from my family members get the best of me and I took it out on you :o(

No worries, Steeler! I know how it goes and things can be easily misconstrued on the internet when you can't hear a person's tone of voice or see their expressions. It happens. :)

How come Lesley  ?

There is nothing wrong with a veggie sub as long as you dont go pile on all them high sodium meats , and the high calorie dressings a veggie on whole wheat is actually healthy and filling .

It took me a long time to realize in my journey its not about the foods we eat its about the quantity of them foods we eat.

Bread isn't the enemy in our diet , the enemy is sitting down and making a pig of ourselves with that bread IE eating four slices of toast instead of just one or two , or eating a whole loaf of whole made bread with butter.  It took me a long time in my journey to realize this.

I love eating a subway veggie sub. I go there about once every two months and I enjoy my sub without the guilt because before learning my lessons of eating healthier I would have gotten a 12 inch sub with double meat and cheese and pile on the toppings and dressings and that dont even look good to me no more .  It's the little things like this that make me more proud of my accomplishments then my weight loss because if I can learn these lessons then the odds of me keeping my weight off for good is much better :o)
