Another thing that ****** me off a little
At my appointment Tuesday the 13th, I weighed in at 20 lbs less than my presurgery appointment November 29th. The doctor said my weight loss was good. Hello, my weight loss is based on starvation and dehydration. I am living on water and an occasional bit of juice. I am an enforced anorexic and he thinks my weight loss is good? I said replied to that, "Who knew, all you had to do is not eat".
Ready For A Change
That is EXACTLY how I lost 100 pounds with the band... couldn't eat solid foods AT ALL.
I was considered "successful" due to this. However, the chronic pain and the absolute inability to eat solid foods wasn't even factored into the equation.
It's NOT good, Bexie. I became anemic and malnourished. And I don't want that for you.
Maybe you need to speak to another surgeon? I waited 6 months to find a different surgeon... and by that time, I was about to kick the bucket. DON'T make the mistake I did, please.

This is the sad thing. Many ppl think the band "works" b/c they see some bandsters losing weight after they get banded. What they don't take in is that some fo them only lose b/c of frequent vomiting, or inability to get things down. There are others that just diet, or exercise and the band has not contributed to their weight loss, but everyone ASSumes b/c they lost weight after getting a band that their band is a "success" b/c of this.

Yeah, it's VERY damaging and harmful. I could have lost weight by becoming a hostage or going on a starvation diet... which is exactly what I did with the band.
But, I lost weight... success! Of course, I also ended up with a completely damaged body that is causing me huge amounts of distress. But I was thin for a couple of years. And, apparently that's all that matters to some doctors.

And with all your complications the and almost killed you. You would have been a skinny corpse though. ANOTHER LAP-BAND SUCCESS!

Please don't take this as an "I told you so" post, b/c it's not intended that way! I will admit I expected you to have problems with the band eventually b/c almost everyone does. However I NEVER expected your problems to start this soon! :-( You have been through hell with it. I know your husband has one also, but I know of several band couples where one does well and the other either doesn't get restriction, or has complications. Hope things work out for you in the long run.
